ARPEGGIATORpage,orforreal‐timecontrol,itcanbeswitchedonusingControllernumber
147(ArpOn)andswitchedoff
usingControllernumber148(ArpOff);theseControllerscan,of
course,beassignedasthedestinationofaPC3Kphysicalcontroller.
TurningActiveonaffects zoneswhoseZoneArpegvaluesare alsosettoOn.Bysettingthe
ZoneArpegparameter(ontheCH/PRGpage)toOfforOnintheindividualzones
ofasetup,
youcanchoosewhichzoneswillbecontrolledbytheArpeggiatorwhenitison.
Beats
TheBeatsparametersetsthenumberofnotesperbeat.Thetempoisbasedonquarternotes.
Therefore,ifyousetitto1/4,youwillgetonenoteperbeatof
theclock.At1/16,youwillget
4 notesperbeat,andsoforth.Youcangoallthewayto96notesperbeat(1/384),butatmost
tempos,divisionssmallerthan1/64willsoundprettymuchthesame.TofindaBeatsvalue,
multiplythenotesyouwant
perbeatby4.Forexample,4notesperbeat(16thnotes)wouldbe
4*4=16,aBeatsvalueof1/16.Threenotesperbeat(8thnotetriplets)wouldbe3*4=12,aBeats
valueof1/12.Sixnotesperbeat(16thnotetriplets)wouldbe 6*4=24,aBeatsvalueof1/24.Note
thatwhenrecordingarpeggiationstoaPC3KMIDItrack,youmustturnonreal‐time
quantizationandsetittothesameGridvalueinorderfortheselectedBeatsvaluetosync

Play Order
Thisparameterdeterminestheorderinwhich
thePC3Kplaysarpeggiatednotes.Playedcauses
themtoplaybackinthechronologicalorderinwhichyouplayedandlatchedthem.Upwards
meansthatnotesplayinascendingpitchorder,regardlessoftheirchronologicalorder.
Downwardsmeansdescendingpitchorder.UpDowncausesnotestoplayfromlowestpitchto
highest,thenfromhighestpitchtolowest,repeatingthecycleuntilyoustopthearpeggiation.
Thenotesattheverytopandverybottomonlyplayonce.UpDownRepeatissimila rto
UpDown,exceptthatthenotesatthetopandbottomplaytwice(repeat) whentheArpeggiator
reversesdirection.
Random
playsthecurrentlylatchednotesincompletelyrandomorder.Shuffleplaysthemat
random,butkeepstrackofthenotessothatnonoterepeatsuntilalloftheothershaveplayed.
Walkisa“randomwalk”order:eachsuccessivenoteiseitherthenextorpreviousnote(in
chronological
order).Forexample,supposeyou’velatchedfournotes—G 4,B4,D5,andF5—
inthatorder.ThefirstnotetheArpeggiatorplaysistheG4.ThesecondnotewillbeeitherB4
(thenextnotechronologically),orF5(the“previous”notechronologically—thatis,thelast
latchednote).Ifthesecondnoteis
B4,thethirdnotewillbeeitherD5orG4.Ifthesecondnote
isF5,thethirdnotewillbeeitherG4orD5.
