Continuous Controller Parameters
Thecontinuous(physical)controllersarethosethat havearangeofvalues:thetwowheels,the
optionalribboncontroller,theninesliders,thetwoContinuousControlpedals,theoptional
breathcontroller(thejackofwhichisconnectedtoCCpedal2),andmonopressure(aftertouch).

shows,allof themusethesameparameters.Eachparameter’sfunction
isdescribedbelow.
Dest
UsethisparametertoselectadestinationfromtheMIDIControllerDestinationlist(see
page 7‐21).
Scale
Afteryou’veselectedacontinuousphysicalcontroller,youcanmodifythecontroller’sresponse
similarlytothewaysyoucanmodify
velocityresponse.Refertothegraphsbeginningon
page 7‐11forillustrationsofthevelocityscalingparameters.
Scaleletsyouamplifyordiminishtheactionofthecontroller.Fullscaleis100%.Highervalues
willmakethecontrollermoresensitive,andlowervalueswillmakeitlessso.Settingthescale
to
anegativenumbermakesthecontrolleractionworkinreverse.Aswithvelocity,youcanusea
controllertocrossfadebetweentwozonesbysettingthescalingforonezonepositiveandthe
othernegative.Maximumscalevaluesare+300%and‐300%.
Add
Thisaddsorsubtractsaconstantto
thecontroller,andatthesametimesets minimumor
maximumvalues(there’snoneedforseparateMaxandMinparameters).IfAddis25,the
minimumvalueofthecontrollerwillbe25.Ifitis‐25(andscaleis100%)thefirstone‐fifthofthe
controller’s
movement(25/127Ý1/5)willsendvalueof0,andthemaximumvalueofthe
controllerwillbe102(=127‐25).Aswithvelocity,Scaleisaproportionalchangetothecontroller,
whileOffsetisalinearchange.ThevaluesforOffsetrangefrom‐128to127.
Curv
This
letsyoutaperthecontrollerresponse.ThedefaultsettingisLinear,whichmeansthatthe
responsefollowsastraightlineasyoumovethecontroller.
SettingCurvtoExpandproducesacurvethatislesssteepthanthelinearcurveatkeystrike
velocitiesbelow64,andsteeperthanthelinearcurve
atkeystrikevelocitiesabove64.Inother
words,whenyou’replayingsoftly,you’llnoticevelocitydifferenceslessthanwithalinear
curve,whilewhenyou’ replayinghard,you’llnoticevelocitydifferencesmore.
SettingCurvtoCompressproducesavelocitycurvethatistheoppositeoftheexpanded
curve—thatis,you’llnotice
velocitydifferencesmorewhenyou’ replayingsoftlythanwhen
you’replayinghard.
Youcanalsocreate“reverse”versionsofthethreedescribedcurves.First,selectyourdesired
curve.ThensettheScaleparameterto‐100%,andsettheAddparameterto127.Thismakesthe
selectedcontrollersenda
valueof127whenallthewaydownandavalueof0whenalltheway
up.
