Low Key (LoKey), High Key (HiKey)
TheLoKeyandHiKeyparametersdefinethenoterangeofthecurrentlyselectedzone.The
easiestwaytochangethesevaluesistopressandholdtheEnterbuttonandpressthekeyofthe
noteyouwishtoenter.Youcansetthesevalueswithnormaldataentrymethodsas
well.
Youcancreate“negative”rangesaswell.Todothis,selecttheHiKeyparameterandsetitslimit
lowerthantheLoKeylimit.Thisresultsinthezonebeingactiveatthetopandbottomofthe
keyboard,butbeingsilentintherangebetweenthetwolimits.Thislets
youcreatealayerwitha
“hole”inthemiddle,whichyoucanthenfillwithadifferentsoundonanotherzone.
ThelimitsofMIDIareC‐1toG9.Theuntransposed88‐keyrangeisA0toC8.Theuntransposed
76‐keyrangeisE1toG7.
Transpose
Thischangesthepitchofthezone,withoutchangingitspositiononthekeyboard.Itchangesthe
MIDInotenumbersgeneratedbythekeysinthezone,withoutphysicallyshiftingthezone.The
rangeis‐128to127semitones.Sincethereare12semitones(orhalfsteps)toanoctave,you
can
transposeupordownovertenoctaves.Ifyoutransposeoutoftherangeoftheactivevoice,
however,nonoteswillsound;MIDInotenumberswilltransmit,butnoteswillnot.

NoteMapletsyouchangethe waynotesaresentfromthePC3K.ThedefaultsettingisLinear:
allnotesgooutasplayed.PressingtheMinusbuttontakesyoutoOff;nonotesaresent,but
controllersandothernon‐notedataare.
SettingNoteMaptoInverseeffectively
turnsthekeyboardupside‐down,withthehighestkey
beingA0andthelowestC9.IfyousetNoteMaptoConstant,allofthekeysonthekeyboard
willplaythesamenote.ThenotedefaultstoC4,butyoucanchangethiswiththeTranspose
parameter.
Thisworkswellwhenyouwantthesoundfromaparticularkeytoplaywithevery
noteofanotherzone—forexample,playingaridecymbalwitheverynoteinabassline.
Nextarethealternatingnotemaps,whichletyoudividethekeyboardinsomeuniqueways.If
youare
usingtwoormoreMIDIdevices(includingthePC3K),youcan expandpolyphonyby
assigningeachzonetoadifferentalternatingnotemap.Forexample,ifyouhavetwoPC3Ks,
youcanassigntwozonestoeachplaythesameprogramonadifferentPC3K,therebydoubling
polyphony.
Tosplita
zoneintooneoftwoalternatingnotemaps,setNoteMapto1of2;nowthezoneplays
oneverysecondkey,startingonC,butwon’tplayonanyotherkeys.Setanotherzoneto2of2,
andthiszonewillplayoneverysecondkey,starting
onC

,thuscoveringtheremainingkeys.
Threeandfour‐zonealternatingnotemapsworkthesameway,butcauseeachzonetoplayonly
oneverythirdandeveryfourthkey,respectively.
Notemapsarealsousedtocreatedrumpatterns withthearpeggiator.SeveraloftheROM
setupsusethisfeature.
