thanOff,theInputChannelparameterhasnoeffectandwill
appearinparentheses.
InputChannelbasicallyhasthesameeffectasLocalKeyboardChannel,exceptyoucanchoose
toplayonlyoneorsomeSetupZonesfromanexternaldevice,insteadofallZones.Toplay
morethanoneZonefromanexternaldevice,seteachdesiredZone’sInputChannel
parameter
tomatchthechannelonwhichtheexternalMIDIdeviceistransmitting.Itisalsopossibletouse
theInputChannelparametertousemultipleexternaldeviceswhicheachplayaspecificZone
orZones.FordetailsoncontrollingassignmentsmadetothePC3K’sphysicalcontrollers
(sliders,switches,modwheel,
etc.)fromanexternalMIDIdevicewhenusinganInputChannel,

Input Channel Settings
WhensettingaMIDIchannelnumberfortheInputChannelparameter,channel1forexample,
youcanchoose1L+Mor1M(scrollpast16L+Mtoseeall
thechoices.)Achannelnumberwith
asettingofL+MindicatesthatthezonewillbeplayablefromthePC3Kkeyboard(LforLocal)
andfromtheexternalMIDIcontroller(MforMIDI.)AchannelnumberwithasettingofM
indicatesthatthezonewillbeplayableonlyfrom
theexternalMIDIcontroller,andnotfromthe
PC3Kkeyboard.YoucanalsochooseAnyL+MorAnyMfortheInputChannelsetting.Any
L+MandAnyMwillmakethezonereceiveMIDIonanychannelthatanexternaldeviceis
transmitting.Thisisusefulifyouareusing
asingleexternalMIDIcontrollerandarenotsure
whichchannelitistransmittingon.
MIDI Bank Mode (BankMode)
TheBankModeyouchoosedetermineshowbanknumberswillbesentoverMIDIwhenthe
setupisselected,andinwhatformat.ItalsoaffectshowmanyMIDIbanksandprogramsyou
canchoose.
Nonemeansnobanknumberissent,justtheprogramnumber.Ctl0meansthatthebank
numberissentasaMIDIController#0message.Ctl32meansitissentasMIDIController #32.
Ctl0/32meansitissentasadual‐controller(two‐byte)message,withthemost‐significantbyte
(MSB)ofthebanknumbersentasController0andtheleast‐significantbyte(LSB)
asController
32.BankSelectmessagesallowyoutospecifybanksnumbered0‐127.
TheMIDISpecificationisalittleambiguouswhenitcomestoBankSelectmessages,asto
whethertheyshouldbeonlyController0,onlyController32,orbothControllerssentasapair.
Differentmanufacturersdesign
theirinstrumentstorespondtodifferentschemes,andifyou
sendBankSelectinaformaninstrumentdoesn’tlike,itmayignoreitorinterpretitincorrectly.
TheBankModeparameterisdesignedtoallowthegreatestflexibilityinaddressingotherMIDI
instruments.UsuallyyoucanlookontheMIDIImplementation
chartintheuser’smanualofan
instrumenttodeterminehowit’sdesignedtoreceiveBankSelectmessages,andthenset
BankModeforeachzonetosuittheinstrumentthatisreceivingdatafromit.Thedefaultsetting,
whichworkswiththe largestnumberofotherinstruments,isCtl0/32.
ABankModevalueofK2600isintendedforusewiththeK2000,K2500,orK2600.TheBank
SelectmessageissentasController32,withavaluebetween0and127.TheK2000,K25 00,and
K2600supportonly10banks,with99programsperbank,soProgramChanges100orhigher
are
sentasBankSelect1,followedbythelasttwodigitsasaProgramChange.Forexample,if
Program124isassignedtothezone,thiswillbesentouttheMIDIOutportasBankSelect
(Controller32)1,andthenProgramChange24.
