Valuesofseg1F,seg2F,andseg3Fareforwardloops.Ineachcase,theamplitudeenvelopeplays
throughtheattackanddecaysections,thenloopsbacktothebeginningofthefirst,
second,or
thirdattacksegments,respectively.
Valuesofseg1B,seg2B,andseg3B,arebidirectionalloops.Theamplitudeenvelopeplays
throughtheattackanddecaysections,thenreversesandplaysbackwardtothebeginningofthe
first,second,orthirdattacksegment,respectively.Whenitreachesthebeginningofthe
assigned
attacksegment,itreversesagain,playingforwardtotheendofthedecaysection,andsoon.
Number of Loops
AvalueofInfmakestheamplitudeenvelopeloopuntilaNoteOffisgenerated.Valuesof1
through31indicatehowmanytimestheloopwillrepeataftertheamplitudeenvelopehas
playedoncethroughitsnormalcycle.
Regardlessofthelooptypeandthenumberofloops,eachnote
goesintoitsreleasesectionas
soonasitsNoteStategoesoff(thatis,whenaNoteOffisgenerated).Theenvelopewill
continuetoloopaslongasNoteStateremainson,whetherit’sheldonbyapedal,bytheIgnRel
parameter(describedinthesectionentitledThe
LAYERPage on page 6‐17),oranythingelse.

ThePC3KofferstwoenvelopesinadditiontoAMPENV.LikeAMPENV,ENV2andENV3can
beassignedlikeanyothercontrolsource.UnlikeAMPENV,however,ENV2andENV3canbe
bipolar.Thismeansthatyoucansetnegativevaluesforthem.(Obviously,youcan’thavean
amplitudelessthanzero,so
AMPENVisunipolar—thevaluesrangefromeither0to 100%or0
to150%.)Abipolarenvelopecontrollingpitch,forexample,couldmodulatethepitchboth
aboveandbelowitsoriginallevel.
AnotherdifferenceisthatAMPENValwayscontrolstheamplitud eofthe layer,soevenifyou
useitas
acontrolsourceforotherfunctions,itwillstillaffectthelayer’samplitude.ENV2 and
ENV3affectonlythoselayersthathavethemassignedasacontrolsource.Also,AMPENVuses
anexponentialattack(theamplituderisesmuchfasterattheendoftheattacksegmentthanit
doesat
thebeginning),whileENV2andENV3uselinearattacks(theattacksegmentincreasesat
thesameratefromstarttofinish).
