With each of these error messages there may be an indication
of a distance. Some errors (e.g. invalid termination) do not
give conclusive information about the distance.
Moreover, all error messages may also include the indication
"uncertain error". This may be indicated, if the cause of the
error could be detected only roughly, thus permitting only an
error estimation.
Also with uncertain error situations, the PROFIBUS
segment has problems in any case, even if the
measured error is relatively small. Due to EMV and
high baud rates (≥ 1.5 Mbit) this may lead to severe
communication problems.
An effective method for determining errors in their
position is to divide the segment into several sub-
segments, and to submit them to separate examinations.
