General advice While developing this product, your personal safety combined with the best operating service, modern design and an up-to-date production technique was especially taken into account. Unfortunately, despite the utmost care injuries and/or damages might occur due to improper installation and/or use. Therefore please read with great care and completely this operating manual and store it appropriately! For your safety all our products pass through a 100% control check.
Safety instructions The installation can be executed only by trained qualified personnel. Before the installation disconnect the power supply. Therefor cut off the battery from the vehicle electric system, follow the manufacturer’s specification. • Never use bolts, screws and other fastening elements from car’s safety devices or steering wheel, brakes because it may influence your driving safety and cause accidents. • Connect the device only to a 12V vehicle voltage with chassis ground.
Notes NOTE SPACE OF DELIVERY: The vehicle with DAB Tuner ex-factory include only one adapter cable for the interface. NOTE CHANNEL SEARCH: There is no automatic channel search, it has to be done manually through MMI. Anew manual channel search is necessary only for regional ensembles, when the vehicle position will be changed and in this way the regional ensemble will be altered too. In case of national ensembles the anew channel search is not necessary.
Installation instructions The following presentation shows the laying of the wires and the position of the single components.
NOTE: Place the FISTUNE on a proper spot. Pay attention on firm and safe box seat. Remove the lining in front of the radio box and unscrew all 4 bolts as shown in the figure 1. Subsequently pull out carefully the complete box to the front. Fig. 1 Note: - If the vehicle has been delivered ex factory without a DAB tuner, please follow the instruction on page 7 „Vehicle without DAB Tuner ex Works“.
Vehicle without DAB Tuner ex Works Figure 2 shows the removed rack for vehicles without DAB Tuner ex Works. Amplifier Radiobox Navigationunit Fig. 2 Fasten the FISTUNE on an appropriate place. We suggest to fix FISTUNE under the radio box as shown in the figure 2. Fig.
The optical fiber cable (LWL) and the normal cable need to be removed of the radio box (Figure 4 upper left, Position 2 and C showas the removed fiber cable and the 8 pole plug). Now you need to establish a connection between radiobox, removed fiber cable and the fistune by using the delivered optical fiber cable (Figure 4 red marking) Now you need to establish a connection between radiobox, removed 8 pole plug and the fistune by using the delivered wiring set (figure 4 blue marking). The figure 5 shows a schematic representation of the connected wires. Fig. 5 After the connection please carry out sufficient functioning tests. When the tests are successful than as next assemble everything in the backward sequence.
Vehicles with DAB Tuner ex Works Figure 6 shows the removed Rack on vehicles with DAB Tuner ex works. Fig. 6 All plugs of the DAB Tuner need to be removed. Please loosen the marked screws and then remove the DAB Tuner. At the same position of the old DAB Tuner you need to mount the Fistune by using suitable workshop material.
The removed 8 pole plug and the optical fiber cable from the old Tuner need to be connected as shown in Figure 7 to our Fistune. For the connection please use the delivered Adapter. Fig.
Operation of the Fistune Because the FISTUNE is completely integrated in the vehicle therefore the operation of the digital radio reception takes place through your MMI. The operation is detailed explained in the user guide of your vehicle (page 55 - 64). Coding The coding of the vehicle is after the assembly of FISTUNE not necessary. But you can add the module to the installation list under the address 19. In order to execute the coding of the vehicle please contact your VW Audi partner.
