9.19Installing the fork protector

– Position the fork protection on the left fork leg. Mount and tighten screws .
Guideline
Remaining screws, chassis M6 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)
– Position the brake line and cable harness. Put the clamp on, mount and tighten
screws .
– Position the fork protection on the right fork leg. Mount and tighten the screws.

9.20Checking the steering head bearing play
Warning
Danger of accidents Unstable vehicle handling from incorrect steering head bearing play.
– Adjust the steering head bearing play without delay. (Your authorized KTM workshop will be glad to help.)

If the bike is driven with play in the steering head bearing, the bearing and the bearing seats in the frame can become damaged
with time.
– Jack up the motorcycle and secure it against falling over.
The front wheel is no longer in contact with the ground and the fork legs are no
longer under tension.
