8.5 Preparing for rides on wet sand

Check the radiator cap.
Value on the radiator cap 1.8 bar (26 psi)
» If the indicated value does not correspond to the required value:
Warning
Danger of scaldingDuring motorcycle operation, the coolant gets
very hot and is under pressure.
Do not open the radiator, the radiator hoses or other cooling sys-
tem components if the engine or the cooling system are at oper-
ating temperature.
Allow the cooling system and the engine to cool down before you
open the radiator, the radiator hoses or other components of the
cooling system.
In the event of scalding, rinse the area affected immediately
with lukewarm water.
Change the radiator cap.

Fit a waterproofing device on the air filter.

Adjust the carburetor jetting and setting.

Clean the chain.
Chain cleaner ( p. 143)
Fit the steel sprocket.
Tip
Do not grease the chain.
Clean the radiator fins.
Straighten bent radiator fins carefully.
Condition
Regular use in sand
Change the piston every 10 operating hours.
