18.4 Adding gear oil
Info
Too little gear oil or poor-quality gear oil results in premature wear to the transmission.
Gear oil must only be topped up when the engine is cold.
Preparatory work
Park the motorcycle on a level surface.

Remove gear oil monitoring screw

Remove gear oil monitoring screw

Remove filler plug
.
Add gear oil until it emerges from the drill hole of the gear oil monitoring screw.
Engine oil (15W/50) ( p. 141)
Mount and tighten the gear oil monitoring screw.

Danger of poisoningExhaust gases are toxic and inhaling them may result
in unconsciousness and death.
Always make sure there is sufficient ventilation when running the
engine.
Use an effective exhaust extraction system when starting or running the
engine in an enclosed space.
Start the engine and check that it is oil-tight.

Check the gear oil level. ( p. 111)
