Preparations for recording
Beforeyoubeginrecording,makesurethatthe
Globalmodememoryprotectsettingisturnedoff.

Selecting a Song
Beforewecanbeginthisexample,weneedtoselectan
emptysongwherewecanrecord.
1. PresstheSEQbuttontoenterSequencermode.
2. GotothefirsttaboftheP0:Play/RECpage.
Thefullpagenameis“MIDITrackProgSelect/Mixer.”
3. PresstheSongSelectPopupbutton.
TheSongselectionpopupwillappear.
4.
Chooseanew,emptySongfromthelist,andpress
theOKbutton.
Tip: Set Song Length
Bydefault,newsongsare64measureslong.Ifyou’d
liketorecordmorethan64measures,gotothep4:
TrackEditpage,andusetheSetSongLength
commandinthepagemenu.Formoreinformation,see
“SetSongLength”onpage 642oftheParameterGuide.
Track settings
Sincewe’regoingtorecordanewsonginthisexample,
wewillstartbyexplaininghowtoassignaprogram to
eachMIDItrack,andmakebasicsettingssuchas
volume.

Whenassigningaprogram,youcanuse“Track
Select”toselectthetrackforwhichyouaremaking
assignments,andtryplayingthesound.

Pansetsthepanofeachtrack,andVolu mesetsthe
volumeofeachtrack.
3. SpecifythetonegeneratorandMIDIchannelthat
willbeplayedbyeachMIDItrack.

NormallywhenusingtheKRONOSasa16timbre
soundmodule,youwillselectINTorBTH.
Ingeneral,youshouldsetMIDIChannelto
differentchannels1–16foreachtrack.Tracksthat
aresenttothesameMIDIchannelwillsound
simultaneouslywheneitherisrecordedorplayed.
StatusINT:Duringplayback,theKRONOS
internaltonegeneratorwillplaytheMIDIdata
recordedonthattrack.Whenyo
uoperatethe
KRONOS’keyboardorcontrollers,youwillbe
playingandcontrollingthetrackselectedby“Track
Select.”MIDIdatawillnotbetransmittedtoan
externaldevice.
StatusEXT,EX2,BTH:Duringplayback,theMIDI
datarecordedonthattrackwillbetransmittedfrom
MIDIOUTtoplayanex
ternalsoundmodule.When
youoperatetheKRONOS’keyboardorcontrollers,
MIDIdatawillbetransmittedtoplayandcontrol
