external effect processor to apply reverb or chorus to the
sound, you can turn off the KRONOS’s master effects and
total effects.
If the Effect Global SW IFX 1–12 Off, MFX1&2 Off, and
TFX1&2 Off items are checked, the insert effects, master
effect, will respectively be bypassed.
Linking KARMA to Programs and
Combinations
Each Program and Combination has its own KARMA
settings, optimized for its particular sounds. Normally, these
KARMA settings are loaded automatically.
In some cases, however, you may wish to keep the KARMA
settings the same while trying out different sounds.
You can choose which behavior you prefer, with separate
controls for Programs and Combinations, via the Program
and Combination check-boxes under the heading Load
KARMA Settings When Changing.
On (checked) means that when you select Programs (or
Combinations), their stored KARMA Module settings will
be used. This is the default.
Off (unchecked) means that when you select Programs (or
Combinations), the KARMA Module settings will stay the
same, instead of changing to the stored settings. Use this to
try out a favorite KARMA-generated phrase with different
sounds.
Globally disabling KARMA and the
Drum Track
If All KARMA Off is checked, all KARMA functionality
will be disabled. KARMA will not play even if the KARMA
ON/OFF switch is on.
Similarly, If Drum Track Off is checked, all Drum Track
functionality will be disabled. The Drum Track will not play
even if the DRUM TRACK switch is on.
Interaction between Transpose and Scale
The Osc/Timbre/Track Transpose parameter determines
how the Program Oscillator, Combination Timbre, and Song
Track Transpose parameters interact with the Scale and Key.
There are two options, each designed for a specific use-case.
If you are using non-equal-tempered scales and want to build
parallel intervals (such as “fat fifths”) into your sounds, use
the Works Within Scale (for harmonies) setting.
If, on the other hand, you play in non-equal-tempered scales
and transpose entire songs—to accommodate singers, for
example—use the Transposes Scale option.
For more information, see “Osc/Timbre/Track Transpose”
on page 764 of the Parameter Guide.
Recalling the last-selected mode and
page at power-on
The state of KRONOS when the power is turned on will
depend on the setting of Power On Mode.
If Power On Mode is set to Reset (the default), KRONOS
will automatically select the Set List mode P0: Play page.
If Power On Mode is set to Memorize, KRONOS will
power on using the same mode and page that were selected
when the power was turned off.
Sounding a beep when you press the LCD
screen
If Beep Enable is selected, a beep will sound when you
press an object in the LCD screen. Uncheck this item if you
don’t want a beep to sound.
Text Anti-aliasing
This setting controls visual anti-aliasing for the standard-size
font, such as used for most parameter names. All other fonts
are not affected.
Off: Text will have thin, sharp lines.
Low: Text will have thicker lines and be smoother in
appearance.
High: Text lines will be more thick, and smoothing more
pronounced.
Protecting the memory
If one or more of the Memory Protect check boxes are
checked, operations such as writing, loading, or song
recording will be prohibited for the corresponding type of
memory.
Adjusting the brightness of the LCD
You can adjust the appearance of the LCD display by using
