Auto-remapping factory Program references for older sound files
Combinations, Songs, and Drum Tracks use Programs by
referring to the Program’s bank and number. The factory
Programs of the new KRONOS are arranged differently
from those of the original KRONOS and KRONOS X. In
order for Combinations, Songs, and Drum Tracks designed
for the older instruments to sound the same on the new
KRONOS, the Program references need to be corrected to
use the new locations. Software version 3.0.3 can now do
this automatically.
The system now recognizes when it is loading .PCG files
saved with software version 2.1 or earlier (which by
definition will come from either the original KRONOS or
KRONOS X), and offers the option to remap references to
factory Programs accordingly.
This might include your own custom sounds, or commercial
libraries from Korg and third party developers designed for
earlier versions of the KRONOS.
Note that this remapping only happens during Load, and thus
only affects the data loaded into memory. It does not change
the original file. If you want to keep your changes, you must
save them to disk.
This function is not available for .PCG files saved with
software version 3.0 or higher, even if they were created
on the original KRONOS or KRONOS X.
Using auto-remap
When you load a .PCG file saved with software version 2.1
or earlier, the auto-remap message will appear before the
normal Load dialog:
1. To remap references to factory Programs to match the
new layout, press Yes.
To load without remapping, press No.
Next, the normal Load dialog will appear.
2. To load the data, press the OK button. To cancel
without loading, press the Cancel button.
Note: When remapping is used, .PCG Contents will be set
to All, and cannot be changed.
The auto-remap dialog will also appear when loading .SNG
or .KSC files, but only when the Load .PCG too option is
checked and .PCG Contents is set to All.
Songs and auto-remap
Auto-remap can convert factory Program references in
Songs, including both the Track Program selections and
Bank/Program Change events. The .SNG and .PCG files
must have the same name (e.g. MyMusic.PCG and
MyMusic.SNG) and be loaded at the same time, with .PCG
Contents set to All. To do so:
1. Select the desired .SNG file on disk, and press Load.
2. In the Load .SNG dialog, enable Load .PCG too.
3. Set .PCG Contents to All.
4. Press OK to continue with the load operation.
5. When the auto-remap dialog appears, press Yes to
remap the factory Program references.
