5.10.5 port-channel hash unicast enhanced
This command configures enhanced unicast hash algorithm. On extension fabric, a
new, enhanced hashing algorithm can be selected for distributing incoming traffic over
an egress port-channel/LAG. This enhanced mode is different from basic modes
(above) and allows distribution of packets based on L2-L4 criteria, in addition for
supporting new IP encapsulations.
It can be enabled by setting the basic mode to enhanced (“port-channel hash unicast
enhanced”, see above). In addition to distributing IPv4 traffic based on IP addresses
(see 5.10.1 “port-channel hash multicast” on page 5 - 43), it supports distributing
based on IP addresses for the following encapsulation
•Ethernet
• IPv4 in Ethernet
• IPv6 in Ethernet
• IPv4 in IPv4 in Ethernet
• IPv6 in IPv4 in Ethernet
• IPv4 in GRE in Ethernet
• IPv6 in GRE in Ethernet
• IPv4/IPv6 in MPLS in Ethernet (RFC 3032)
Hashing for individual encapsulations can be turned off on a global basis. The system
will then use the Ethernet encapsulation hash selection by default.
For all encapsulations, the elements to be used for hashing can be selected on a global
basis, the following fields are available for inclusion in the hash:
• Ethernet : MAC source address (sa), MAC destination address (da)
default: sada
• IPv4/IPv6 (valid for all IP traffic except IP in MPLS):
Source IP (sip), Destination IP (dip),
Source L4 port (UDP/TCP) (sp), Destination L4 port (UDP/TCP) (dp)
default: sipdip
• MPLS:Source IP (sip), Destination IP (dip),
MPLS top lable (label1), MPLS second label (label2)
default: sipdip
Note, that at least one field must be not “none”.
