The main building blocks of the AM4310 are:
•XFP Ports
XAUI to XFI Transceivers
•IPMI
Power Supply
3.3.1 XFP Ports
The AMC module contains two 10 GbE XFP uplinks at the front panel. XFP modules are not
provided with the AM4310 and have to be obtained separately. The XFP uplink ports are ac-
cording to the SFF Committee, INF-80077i, rev. 4.0, 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable
Module (XFP). Modules with -5.0V are not supported. An application note with a list of XFP
modules successfully operated in the AM4310 is available upon request.
The XFP cages have the following pin assignment.
Caution!
Do not look into the laser beam!
The XFP modules are fitted with a class 1 or 1M laser. To avoid possible
exposure to hazardous levels of invisible laser radiation, do not exceed max-
imum ratings.
Warning!
The XFP cages have heatsinks which can dissipate 1.5W with no airflow. If
the XFP module consumes more than 1.5W (up to 3.5W), the user has to
ensure sufficient airflow to cool the XFP module. Otherwise, the modules
may be damaged.
