The file name generated at the device is composed of one or more fields.
Use the Field Editor to specify the default field values
. The Default and User modify fields are not
available with all field types.
The
File Name tab also allows you to Edit a selected file name, Remove a selected file name, and
use the
Move Up and Move Down buttons to reposition a file name in the list.
The following options are available if a scanned image file already exists in a selected destination:
Field Description
Name An identifier for the field.
Type (see “About
the Field Editor” on
page 69)
The data type (alphanumeric, date, time, etc.)
Your selection causes the window to display the appropriate fields for the field
type.
Default The default value.
User modify Enables a user to modify the default value at the device.
Option Description
Overwrite always
Replaces the existing file with the one you are currently saving.
Return error
Displays an error message prompting the user at the device to change the file
name.
Create unique file
name
Adds a unique number to the file name, for example filename1, filename2.
The file is saved to the location under the unique file name and the existing
file is not overwritten.
User modify Enables a user to modify the default value at the device.
