The size of a scanned file does not match the size set by “Custom Size” on the copier.
A custom size file is saved in the next larger standard paper size, such as Letter or 11
x
17.
A scan appears enlarged if you select JPEG format, because these formats are typically used
for uncompressed files. It is recommended that you use Adobe Photoshop to open and
print the scanned file.
The Fiery WebScan user interface blinks twice when viewed from the Netscape browser
version 4.x on a Windows OS platform when you click the Refresh button from the
WebScan window.
A total 256MB of RAM is required to open a scanned TIFF image from a Windows
computer.
A scan-generated TIFF file is compliant to the TIFF 6.0 format wrapped in JPEG format.
Most applications currently available on the market do not fully support this file format.
Therefore, if a TIFF file includes multiple pages, most applications will only be able to open
one page. PDF and TIFF file formats support multi-page documents. JPEG only supports a
single-page format; therefore, opening a scanned file in JPEG format requires you to first
enter a page number in WebScan.
If you encounter a paper jam while scanning pages with the ADF and later recover from the
error, the scan image of the pages after the jammed page will be corrupted.
To avoid unexpected errors, it is recommended that you remove any paper from the ADF
before scanning.
On the Mac OS, page selection may not function correctly when scanning multiple pages
of a JPEG file format. This situation can occur when you scan multiple pages from the
copier ADF. Select JPEG as the file format, and specify the page number to save. However,
the actual page that is saved is the page number that was originally displayed in the Page
box, regardless of the page number you specified.
Occasionally, the OK button will not display on the WebScan warning dialog box that
indicates the server is down and to exit WebScan. The warning message without the OK
button only appears on monitors connected to the server and not from remote
workstations. To exit out of the dialog box, click the upper right hand “
X
”.
When you open WebScan with Netscape 4.7 on a Windows NT platform and type a four-
digit number in the mail bin input box, the first character is not visible. Although you
cannot see the first number, you can still reach the designated mail box.
Monitor Resolution
The WebTools windows may appear faded or appear to have a dot pattern when viewed
with Netscape 4.7x. This issue is resolved by setting a High Color 16-bit monitor
resolution.
