Kofax Front-Office Server Configuration Guide for Kofax Capture
Kofax, Inc. 5
How to Use this Guide
This guide shows how to configure Kofax Front-Office Server so that documents can be sent to
Kofax Capture.
Introduction
Kofax Front-Office Server uses Kofax Capture Import Connector - Web Services to communicate
with Kofax Capture, retrieve form types that display as destinations in Kofax Capture, and export
documents to those destinations.
For scaling and balancing the distribution of documents coming into Kofax Capture, you can
install multiple Kofax Capture Import Connector - Web Services servers. When a job is submitted,
a server is selected randomly from the list of servers. If the request to that server cannot be
accepted, the next server in the list is tried and a round-robin mechanism begins until the request
is fulfilled and the job completed.
If you have defined index fields for a document class, they are retrieved by Kofax Front-Office
Server. Users can enter values for them in Kofax Front-Office Server Web Client (also referred to
as the Web Client) or at the MFP front panel. If you have defined values for these fields, users can
select them from a drop-down field in the Web Client. If you have hidden index fields, they are
also hidden in Kofax Front-Office Server.
If you are creating global shortcuts in Kofax Front-Office Server Administration Console (also
referred to as the Administration Console), you can enter default values for the index fields that
display when users send documents through a shortcut.
