Introduction Dear customer, Congratulations on purchasing your new KOENIC combi microwave 3-in-1. It is the perfect addition to your kitchen and will make your work considerably easier in the future. Get to know the benefits and advantages of the quick wave. You can use your device not only for defrosting, heating and cooking, but also for broiling and scalloping. Our cookbook will use many recipes to help you get acquainted with the new way of cooking, which saves time and energy.
Important information }} What does 3-in-1, or a microwave appliance with grill and convection heating mean? A 3-in-1 microwave appliance is a microwave combined with a grill and convection heating. It has 3 functions – an appliance which is also referred to as a combi microwave appliance or combi microwave. Depending on the type of appliance, the heating systems can be operated individually (stand-alone), in succession, or at the same time (combi operation).
Important information }} What are microwaves? Microwaves are electromagnetic waves, similar to radio waves and TV waves. Their cooking power is derived from causing the smallest components of the food, especially the fat and water molecules, to vibrate, so that the molecules rub against each other. This friction causes heat that is so powerful that the food is cooked in a very short time.
Important information }} Power settings The power settings may be marked by numbers, symbols, percentage values, or wattage values. For the recipes, the power classification: »High - Medium High - Medium - Low« has been proven to work. The following table shows application examples for the individual power setting and you can allocate the corresponding power settings of your appliance. The corresponding wattage and percentage values as listed on TV dinners or in other cookbooks are also shown there.
Tableware }} Suitable tableware The requirements of a microwave oven for the cookware are different from those of a conventional range. A microwave oven lets you cook in glass and china, but is not compatible with metal. As high temperatures can occur while cooking food, the cookware should have a corresponding temperature resistance. Heat-resistant glass, china, ceramics, and heatresistant plastics are ideal. However, your everyday tableware can also be used if it is dishwasher-safe and undamaged.
Tableware }} Plastic foil must be temperature-resistant and vapor-permeable. Accordingly, the metal clips of cooking bags or oven bags must be replaced by rubber bands or string and one or two holes must be punched to let the steam escape. Cling film is not suitable for cooking. Special microwave foil should be used. }} Wood, wicker Wooden bowls or cutting boards should not be put into a microwave oven. They dry out and crack. Baskets should also be heated only for a short time.

Thawing }} Thawing in minutes A microwave oven permits very rapid defrosting of deep-frozen food. Waiting for hours and advance planning are a matter of the past. Now you can access your reserves in the freezer quickly when unexpected guests arrive or when you could not go shopping. }} Which setting is correct? The special defrosting setting defrosts raw food gently. The following applies: the lower the power, the slower and gentler the defrosting.

Warming, heating }} Warming to room temperature }} Set the appliance only for very short heating times and a medium or low power level. The food rapidly reaches room temperature. Overheating can be disastrous for cheese, butter, or ice cream. }} Heating of liquids }} Never use delicate glasses or cups that cannot withstand higher temperatures to heat liquids.

Warming, heating }} Baby food A microwave oven facilitates the preparation of food for babies and small children considerably. Small portions of vegetables, compote, or mash can be produced quickly and ready-made food can be heated. However, you should check the temperature carefully with a thermometer or by tasting, just as with conventional cooking. Please note that the consumption temperature for infants is only 37 °C.
Cooking }} Practical tips }} Follow the guideline values in the cooking table and the recipes. Observe the cooking procedure if you have not had much practice. You can open the door of the appliance at any time. The appliance then turns off automatically. It operates again only when the door is closed. }} Food out of the refrigerator requires a longer cooking time than food at room temperature. }} More compact food requires a longer cooking time.

Broiling }} What does broiling in a microwave oven mean? Broiling in a single mode enables rapid and gentle cooking without fat, just like a barbecue. The powered microwave cooks larger slices of meat and poultry, casseroles and gratins from the inside, while the grill provides a nice golden-brown colour. }} What kind of food can be broiled? Thin pieces of meat like steaks, cutlets or sausages, fish or poultry are particularly well suited for broiling.

Baking }} What is baking in a combi-microwave appliance? Baking in a combi-microwave appliance is very similar to traditional baking. You can use the convection as a stand-alone function as per traditional methods, and set the temperature and timer. For cakes with soft toppings and fillings, such as cheesecakes, flans, vegetable tarts and quiches, using the microwave combi function shortens the baking time.

Roasting }} How do you roast in a combi-microwave appliance? Roasting in a combi appliance is also very similar to traditional roasting in an oven. The convection and grill create a crispy, brown texture and the microwave shortens the cooking times for meat by up to a third. }} Preparation? Only use good quality meat, which has been well hung. Quickly wash the joint and dry it with some kitchen paper, then detach or break any string.

This is because the preparations and the procedures for microwave cooking sometimes differ from those for conventional cooking. }} The kilojoule and kilocalorie values are approximate values and may vary according to the size of teaspoons and tablespoons and because of food variations. }} The listed cooking times are reference values that may vary depending on the appliance type and the properties of the food.
