To
take
instantaneous
pictures
th
e
object
must
be
in
the
broad,
open
sunlight,
but
the
camera
should
not. T
he
sun
should
be
behind
the
back
or
over
the
shoulder
of
the
operator.

ON
THE
SUBJECT
.
Set
the
focus
by
turning
the
pointed
end
of
indicator
over
the
figures on
the
in-
dex
dial
nearest
the
estimated
distance
of
the
pri1lcipalobject
to
be
photographed
in
fe
e
t.
It
is
not
necessary
to
e!-.timate
the
distance
with
an
y
more
than
approximate
accuracy; for
instance,
if
the
focus
is
set
at
25
feet
(the
usual
dista
n
ce
for
ordi-
nary
street
work),
the
sharpest
part
of
the
pic-
ture
will
be
the
obje
cts
at
that
distance
fr0m
the
camera,
but
everything
from
IS
to
35
feet
will
be
in
good
focus
.
For
general
street
work
the
focus
may
be
kept
at
50
feet,
but
where
the
prillcija
l obj e
ct
is
nearer
or
farther
aw
ay,
the
focus
should
be
moved
accordingly.
The
i
ndex
plate
is
divided
for
6, 8,
10
,
12
,
IS,
2 0 ,
25,
50
and
100
foot
focus.
Nothing
nea
r
er
than
6
feet
can
be
focused.
