LOADING WI TH PLAT ES .
I. In using glass plates the plate holder s must be loaded in
a
dark room-th at i" a room from which all white light h as
been excluded as described on p ag e 29.

N O.4 Bullet Special Kodak Double P late Hold ers.
I dozen Eastma n 's Extr a Rapid Dry Plat es, 4 x 5.
1 Eastman Orange Candle Lam p.
A shelf or table on which to work.
III. Set up th e lamp as described in th e
directions conta ined in the box in which it is
pa~ked . Fig. r.
IV. Remove the dark s lides from the plate
holder s. Fig. 1. The Lamp .
V. Open th e box of pl ates by runnin g a thin knif e blade
a round th e edge of the box.
V I. Take out one of the pl ates and pl ace it in the hold er,
f
ace up. (The face is the dull si de.) Brush gently over th e
face of
the pla te with a ca mel's hair brush to re move dust.
VI I. Repl ace the dark slide in the hold er with th e word
"exposed" on inside. Turn the holder over and lo ad in the
sa me ma nner .
V III. Repe at the operation until all of th e plate holder s
h
av e been filled, then close up the remainin g plates in th e box
and put them away in a dark drawer or wrap up securely.
