ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
1. LOCATE IN TRUCK BED.
With the truck on a level surface,
place truck box into position on
top of bed rail and support box
with blocking. Square box to the
bed and level the box so the top
is horizontal when viewed from
the rear. Leave 1/8 in. gap between
Universal Low Side Box and Saddle
Box (if applicable). Ensure that
cover opens without interference.
2. MARK AND DRILL MOUNTING HOLES
BED RAIL: Mark two small lines
on the underside of the truck box
where the box sits on the bed rail,
one toward the front of the truck and
one toward the rear approximately
3 in. from each end of the truck box.
They will serve as guides to drill
holes to mount the truck box to the
bed rail.
If using the Kobalt
®
Mounting Kit,
drill 3/16 in. pilot holes and then 3/8 in. holes in the truck
box at each location to the inside of the line (not through the
truck bed rail).
If not using the Kobalt
®
Mounting Kit, drill 3/16 in. pilot holes
and 3/8 in. holes at each location to the outside of the line,
through the truck box AND through the bed rail. If your truck
bed is constructed of aluminum, coat the holes drilled in the
bed with zinc primer.
3. ATTACH BOX TO TRUCK BED. BED RAIL ATTACHMENT:
Place truck box back in original position. If using the Kobalt
®
Mounting Kit, insert J-bolts up from bottom through the drilled
holes inside truck box and around the bed lip as shown in
gure. If your truck bed is constructed of aluminum, place the
vinyl tape strip between the end of the J-bolt and the bed rail.

If not using the Kobalt
®
Mounting Kit, use 5/16 in. nuts, bolts,
lock and at washers (not provided) to secure the truck box to
the truck bed rail through the drilled holes.
LEG BRACKET ATTACHMENT: Place leg brackets into
position and install bolts, nuts and washers. If your truck bed
is constructed of aluminum, use nylon washers between
leg bracket feet and truck bed on the top side and between
the at washer and bed on the underside. Tighten all bolts
securely with wrench.
