1. Tocreatea terrace,start at thetop of the slopeandworkdown
Gobackandforthacrossthe first row.See Figure19.

Positionthe loadingvehicleso thatthe rampangleis as flat
as possible(thelessinclineto the ramp,the better).Turnthe
vehicle'sengineoff andapplytheparkingbrake.
Whengoingupthe ramps,standin the normaloperatingposition
and pushthetiller aheadof you.Havea personat each sideto
turn the wheels.
Whengoingdownthe ramps,walkbackwardwiththe tiller
followingyou.Keepalertfor anyobstaclesbehindyou.Positiona
personat eachwheelto controlthe speedofthe tiller.Nevergo
downthe rampstiller-first,as the tillercouldtip forward.
Placewoodenblockson thedownhillsideof the wheelsif you
needto stopthe tillerfromrollingdownthe ramp.Also,usethe
blocksto temporarilykeepthe tiller in placeon the ramps(if
necessary),andto chockthe wheelsin placeafterthe tiller is in
the vehicle.
Afterloadingthe tiller,preventit fromrollingby engagingthe
wheelsinthe WHEELDRIVEposition.Chockthe wheelswith
blocksandsecurelytie the tillerdown.

Loading & Unloading the Tiller
Loadingandunloadingthe tiller intoa vehicleis potentiallyhazard-
ous anddoingso is not recommendedunlessabsolutelynecessary,
as thiscouldresultinpersonalinjuryor propertydamage.
If youmustloador unloadthe tiller,followthe guidelinesgiven below:
Beforeloadingor unloadingthe tiller,stopthe engine,waitforall
partsto stopmoving,disconnectthe sparkplugwireandlet the
engineandmufflercool.
Putthe wheelsin freewheelby puttingthe clickpins throughthe
wheelshaftonly (notthroughthe wheelhub).
Thetiller is too heavyandbulkyto be safelyliftedby oneperson.
Twoor morepeopleshouldsharethe load.
Usesturdyrampsandmanually-- withtheengineshutoff -- roll
the tillerintoand outof the vehicle.Twoor morepeopleare
neededto dothis.
The rampsmustbestrongenoughto supportthe combined
weightof the tillerandany handlers.Therampsshouldprovide
goodtractionto preventslipping;theyshouldalso havesiderails
to guidethe tiller alongthe ramps;andtheyshouldhavea locking
deviceto securethemto the vehicle.
Thehandlersshouldwearsturdyfootwearthatwill helpto prevent
slipping.
