Operating Instructions
To avoid injury from accidental starting, always turn the switch OFF and unplug the drill press before
installing orremoving any accessory or attachment or making any adjustment.
Always wear safety goggles when operating the drill.
Use only accessories designed for this machine to avoid injury from thrown broken parts.
Follow instructions that accompany accessories. Do not use any accessory unless you have
completely read the instruction or operator’s manual for that accessory.
Follow the points below while using the drill press:
Do not wear gloves while operating this tool.
Be sure power is off before changing bits.
Do not adjust drill speed until the motor has been turned on and the chuck is at constant speed. If
the round speed control knob is tightened when the motor is not running, the belt will jam when
the motor is activated.
If it is necessary to stop the drill while drilling at high-speeds, lower the speed to 1,000 rpm or
less, then turn off the power.
All work pieces should be clamped to table prior to drilling. This procedure increases accuracy of
drilling and prevents accidents.
When the drill is first setup to drill a specific depth, it is recommended that several test holes be drilled
in scrap material. Check the test holes for depth accuracy and make adjustments if needed prior to
drilling working material.
For repetitive and precision drilling, the drill has a depth stop that allows limiting the quill travel. The
depth of drilling can be set in 1/16-inch increments up to 3-1/8 inches. This feature is particularly
beneficial when drilling many holes to a given depth. The depth stop control is located on the gear
shaft between the headstock and drive handles.
To limit the quill travel to a specific depth:
1. Turn the depth stop locking screw 45 degrees counter clockwise.
2. Rotate dial collar until the desired depth is aligned with the indicator arrow on the headstock.
3. Tighten the depth stop locking screw by turning the screw clockwise 45 degrees.
After Each Use
After each use,
Disconnect the power cord
Clear the scrap iron
Clean the surface
Add anti-rust oil onto the metal surface of workbench, baseboard, column and main spindle quill
