MAINTENANCE
1. THE IMPORTANCE OF MAINTENANCE
Good maintenance is essential for safe, economical, and trouble-free operation. It
will also help reduce air pollution.
Improperly maintaining this trimmer, or failure to correct a problem before
operation, can cause a malfunction in which you can be seriously hurt or killed.
2. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1)
Make sure the engine is switched off before you begin any maintenance or repairs.
Ensure the cutting attachments stop at idle speed. This will help to eliminate
several potential hazards:
• Your engine's exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas, which
can collect rapidly in an enclosed area and cause illness or death.
• Be sure there is adequate ventilation wherever you operate the engine.
• Burns from hot parts! Avoid contact with exhaust; a hot exhaust can
cause serious burns!
• Let the engine and exhaust system cool before touching.
• Injury from moving parts – be aware of moving parts.
• Do not run the engine unless instructed how to do so safely.
2) Read ALL instructions before you use this appliance.
3) To reduce the possibility of fire or explosions, be careful when working with
petrol. Use only a nonflammable solvent, not petrol, to clean parts.
4) Keep cigarettes, sparks, and flames away from all fuel-related parts.
3. AIR FILTER CLEANING
A dirty air filter will restrict airflow to the carburetor, reducing engine performance.
If you operate the engine in very dusty areas, clean the air filter frequently.
Press the button on the air filter and then pull off the air filter cover. (See Fig. T)
