4 Physical Characteristics
The external dimensions of the tuner shall meet acceptable standards for the consumer electronic
industry with a minimum width of approximately 11” and a maximum width of approximately 17”. The
height of the receiver shall be adequate to accommodate display and controls while not exceeding
an acceptable height for a component that may be situated in a rack. The depth shall provide a
footprint that allows for a well designed electrical layout and adequate ventilation and heat
dissipation.

4.2 Cosmetics
While the shape of the tuner is essentially a rectangular box, the design must convey a pleasing
appearance and exhibit characteristics of a product that is leading technology and appealing to
consumers seeking high-end products and pride of ownership. Details are critical especially with
respect to accessibility of controls, readability of display, and quality of fit and finish.
