Curb Mount Step Flashing

Kennedy Step Flashing Kit Components:

A. (1) Head Flashing 5" x 10" x 35"

B. (2) Head Step Flashing Corner 5" x 6" x 9"

C. (18) Step Flashings 5" x 6" x 9" (number

needed will vary on skylight size)

D. (2) Sill Step Flashing Corners 5" x 6" x 9"

E. (1) Sill Flashing 5" x 6" x 35"

F. (8) Counter Flashings 1" x 3 /" x 23"

NOTE: This Curb Mount Step Flashing installation instructions should be used along with the installations instructions that came with your

Kennedy Curb Mount Skylight. Please refer to those instructions for additional installation steps.

CAUTION: Do NOT use step ﬂashing on tar and gravel roof installations.

Materials and Tools Needed:

INSTALLATION SHOULD ONLY BE COMPLETED BY INDIVIDUALS SKILLED WITH THE NECESSARY TOOLS

FOR INSTALLATION. IF YOU DOUBT YOUR SKILLS, PLEASE CONSULT A QUALIFIED INSTALLER.

STEP ONE - INSTALL CURB

Accurately line up the pre-built curb with the rough opening

and nail securely to roof deck. Kennedy Skylights recommends

using a 2" x 6" curb. Caulk all seams around the curb liberally

with sealant.

STEP TWO - INSTALL WEATHERPROOFING

To ensure weatherprooﬁng, cover the entire outside perimeter

of the curb and surrounding roof deck using an adhesive rooﬁng

membrane.

USING A 2" x 4" CURB?

If using a 2" x 4" curb, ALL

ﬂashing pieces MUST be cut

down to a height of 3 /" using

tin snips. Use caution when

handling sharp edges of cut pieces.

Step Flashing Kit MUST be installed with the Kennedy Curb Mount Skylight in order to

qualify for the Lifetime Warranty. Failure to follow the instructions will void the Warranty.

SILL FLASHING (E) GOES UNDER SILL CORNER FLASHING (D) D D E D E STEP THREE - INSTALL SILL FLASHING Replace first row of shingles before the curb. Place the sill flashing (E) so it rests on top of shingles. Nail the sill flashing to the curb. Do not nail sill flashing lip to shingles. STEP FOUR - INSTALL SILL STEP FLASHING CORNER Line up the top edge of the sill step flashing corner (D) with the edge of the curb so that the angle points down the roof slope. Secure with nails to the curb or roof deck.
