Before Setting Oven Controls Oven vent location Types of oven racks flat handle oven rack The oven vent is located below the control panel (Fig. 1). When the oven is on, warm air passes through this vent. This venting is necessary for proper air circulation in the oven ven vent and good baking results. Do not block ooven vent.. flat oven rack oven vent offset oven rack Fig. 1 The flat oven rack (some models) or flat handle oven rack (some models) may be used for most cooking needs.
Before Setting Surface Controls Check burner cap placement before operating the surface burners Burner cap To prevent flare-ups and avoid creation of harmful by-products, do not use the cooktop without all burner caps properly installed to insure proper ignition and gas flame size. Burner cap lip Burner head Fig. 1 It is very important to be sure that all surface burner caps and burner grates are properly installed and in the correct locations BEFORE operating the cooktop burners.
Before Setting Surface Controls Using proper cookware Setting proper burner flame size DO NOT place flammable items such as plastic salt and pepper shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on the cooktop when it is in use. These items could melt or ignite. Potholders, towels or wooden spoons could catch fire if placed too close to the range cooktop. Never extend the flame beyond the outer edge of the cooking utensil. A higher flame wastes energy, and increases your risk of being burned by the flame.
Setting Surface Controls Setting surface burners Your gas appliance may be equipped with different sized surface burners. The ability to heat food quicker and in larger volumes increases as the burner size increases. It is important to select cookware that is suitable for the amount and type of food being prepared. The smaller SIMMER burner (on some models) is best suited for simmering delicate sauces, etc. The standard size burners may be used for most surface cooking needs.
Oven Control Functions For satisfactory use of your oven, become familiar with the various key pad functions and features of the oven. 1 4 2 5 10 3 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 Function indicator lights - These lights located above the functions will glow when the function is active. Oven control keypads 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Oven Light - Use to turn the oven lights ON and OFF. Clock - Use to set the time of day. Cook Time - Use to enter length of cook time desired.
Setting Oven Controls Changing temperature display (°F or °C) Setting Timer The electronic oven control is set to display °F (Fahrenheit) when shipped from the factory. The display may be changed to show either Fahrenheit or Celsius oven temperatures. The timer allows you to track your cooking times without interfering with the cooking process. The timer may be set from 1 minute up to 11 hours and 59 minutes.
Setting Oven Controls Oven Lockout Setting Bake The control may be programmed to lockout the oven control key pads and oven door. Use the bake function whenever the recipe calls for baking using normal temperatures. A reminder tone will sound when the set bake temperature is reached. Bake may be programmed for any temperature from 170°F to 550°F (77°C to 287°C). The factory preset bake temperature is 350°F (177°C). To activate OVEN LOCKOUT feature: 1. Be sure oven door is completely closed. 2.
Setting Oven Controls Setting Cook Time Use Cook Time to set the amount of time needed for baking. The oven will turn on immediately and stop automatically after the set cook time ends. To change the oven temperature or cook time after baking has started: 1. To change press Bake (for oven temperature) or Cook Time key pad. FOOD POISONING HAZARD. Do not let food sit for more than one hour before or after cooking. Doing so can result in food poisoning or sickness.
Setting Oven Controls Setting Delay Start Delay Start allows you to set a delayed starting time to the oven baking or cleaning functions. To change the oven temperature or cook time after baking has started: FOOD POISONING HAZARD. Do not let food sit for more than one hour before or after cooking. Doing so can result in food poisoning or sickness. Foods that can easily spoil such as milk, eggs, fish, meat or poultry, should be chilled in the refrigerator first.
Setting Oven Controls Convection (on some models) Benefits of convection cooking: • Cooks more evenly. • Multiple rack baking. • No special pans or bakeware needed. • Recommended method for cakes, cookies, biscuits and breads. How convection works Convection uses a fan to circulate the oven's heat uniformly and continuously around the oven (See Fig. 1). This improved heat distribution allows for fast, even cooking and browning results.
Setting Oven Controls Broil Use the broil function to cook meats that require direct exposure to flame heat for optimum browning results. The Broil function is factory preset to broil at 550°F. Important notes: • Always arrange the oven racks when the oven racks are cool. The suggested broil settings table (See Fig. 2) is provided for recommendations only. Increase or decrease broiling times, or move to a different rack position to suit for doneness.
Setting Oven Controls Warm & Hold™ Adjusting Oven Temperature Warm & Hold keeps cooked foods warm for serving up to 3 hours after cooking has finished. After 3 hours the Warm & Hold will shut-off automatically. Warm & Hold should only be used with foods that are already at serving temperatures. Warm & Hold will maintain the oven temperature at 170° F (77°C). Your appliance has been factory calibrated and tested to ensure an accurate baking temperature.
Warmer Drawer (on some models) The purpose of the warmer drawer is to keep hot cooked foods at serving temperatures. Examples are vegetables, gravies, meats, casseroles, biscuits, rolls and pastries. It is not recommended to heat cold food in the warmer drawer; always start with hot food. Storage in or on appliance—flammable materials should not be stored in an oven, warmer drawer, near surface units.
Warmer Drawer (on some models) Warmer drawer indicator light The indicator light is located above the warmer drawer thermostat control knob. It turns on when the control is set, and stays on until the control is turned OFF. Setting warmer drawer The thermostat control knob is used to select the temperature for the warmer drawer. It is located on the control panel. The temperatures are approximate, and are marked LO, MED and HI (See Fig. 1). FOOD POISONING HAZARD.
Select Clean • Remove any excessive spillovers. Any spills on the oven bottom should be wiped-up and removed before starting a self-clean cycle. To clean, use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Large spillovers can cause heavy smoke or fire when subjected to high temperatures. DO NOT allow food spills with a high sugar or acid content (such as milk, tomatoes, sauerkraut, fruit juices or pie filling) to remain on the surface as they may leave a dull spot even after cleaning.
Select Clean Delayed Start Select Clean When Select Clean begins the cleaning cycle, the motorized door latch mechanism will automatically start to lock the oven door and the DOOR LOCKED indicator light T open the oven door when the DOOR will flash. DO NO NOT LOCKED indicator light is flashing. Allow about 15 seconds for the oven door to completely lock. To start a Delay Start Select Clean: 1. Be sure the oven is empty and ALL oven racks are removed. Remove all items from the cooktop.
