Somedishes (melamine,someceramicdinnerware,
etc.)absorb microwaveenergy,becomingtoo hotto
handleandslowingcookingtimes. Cookingin metal
containersnot designedfor microwaveuse could
damagethe oven,as couldcontainerswithhidden
metal(twist-ties,foil lining,staples,metallicglaze
ortrim).
Operating Safety Precautions
• Neverleanonthe dooror allow a childto swingon it
when the door is open.
• Usehot pads. Microwaveenergy does not heat
containers, but the heatfromthe food can makethe
containerhot.
• Do not use newspaperor other printedpaper
in the oven.
• Do not dry flowers,fruit,herbs,wood,paper,
gourds,or c!othesin the oven.
• Do not starta microwaveoven when it is empty.
Productlife maybe shortened.Ifyou practice
programmingthe oven,place a containerof water
in the oven. Itis normalfor the oven doorto look
wavy afterthe oven has beenrunningfor awhile.
• Do not tryto meltparaffinwax in the oven. Paraffin
wax will not meltin a microwaveoven becauseit
allowsmicrowavesto passthrough it.
• Do not operatethe microwaveoven unlessthe
glassturntableis securelyin place andcan move
freely.The turntablecan move ineither direction.
Make sure the turntableis correct-sideup inthe
oven. Handle your turntable with care when
removingit fromthe ovento avoid possiblybreaking
it. tf yourturntablecracksor breaks,contactyour
dealerfor a replacement.
• When you use a browning dish, the browningdish
bottom must beat least3/16 in. (0.5 cm)above the
turntable.Followthe directionssuppliedwith the
browningdish.
• Never cookor reheata whole egg insidethe
shell.Steambuildupinwhole eggs maycausethem
to burst,and possiblydamagethe oven.Slice hard-
boiledeggs before heating.Inrarecases, poached
eggs have been knownto explode.Cover poached
eggs and allow a standingtimeof one minute
before cuttinginto them.
• For best results, stir any liquid several times
during heating or reheating. Liquidsheated in
certaincontainers(especiallycontainersshaped like
cylinders)maybecomeoverheated.The liquidmay
splashout with a loudnoise duringorafter heating
or when addingingredients(coffeegranules,tea
bags,etc.).Thiscan harmthe oven.
• Microwaves may not reachthe centerof a roast.
The heatspreadsto the centerfrom the outer,
cookedareasjust as inregularoven cooking.This
is oneof the reasonsfor lettingsomefoods (for
example,roasts orbaked potatoes)standfor a while
aftercooking,or for stirringsomefoodsduringthe
cookingtime.
• Do not deep fry inthe oven. Microwavable
utensilsare not suitableand it is difficultto maintain
appropriatedeep-fryingtemperatures.
• Do not overcook potatoes. At theendof the
recommendedcookingtime, potatoesshouldbe
slightlyfirm becausethey willcontinuecooking
duringstandingtime. After microwaving, let
potatoesstandfor 5 minutes.Theywil!finish
cookingwhile standing.
