Thetemperaturecontrolsarepresetatthefactory
tomaintainanaveragetemperatureof38Fin
refrigerators.Tomaintainadifferenttemperature,
simplyadjustthecontrolknoblocatedinsidethe
unit.Temperaturerangesfrom7(coldest)to1
(warmest).Settingthetemperaturecontrol tothe
coldestsettingmaycausetheevaporatorcoilto
freezeandiceup.Thiswilleventuallymakethe
cabinetbecomewarm,whichisnotrecommended.
ApplianceStart‐up
Oncetheappliancehasbeenlocatedinits
permanentlocationandtheproperpowerand
groundinghasbeenprovided,thefollowingitems
mustbecheckedorcompleted:
CoolDownPeriod
Forsafefoodstorage,allow24hoursforthe
appliancetocooldowncompletelybeforeloading
withfood.Theappliancewillruncon tin uouslyfor
thefirstseveralhours.Donotplaceanyfoodinthe
applianceuntilafterthefirst24hoursofoperation.
ThermostatSetting
Theapplianceisshippedfromthefactorywiththe
thermostatsetataboutthemidpointofthe
operatingrange.Adjustmentscolderorwarmercan
bemadeaftertheappliancehasbeenrunningforat
least8hours.Allowatleast8hoursfortemperature
stabilizationbeforereadjustingthethermostat.
DefrostSetting
Theapplianceisdesignedtodefrostautomatically
every12hours.Tosetthetimeofdefrost,waituntil
thedesiredtimetodefrost.Withthenotchonthe
timerknobalignedwiththelineonthebracket(Fig.
A),turnthedefrosttimerknobclockwiseslowly.
Thetimerwillclickseveral times,thenonceloudly,
atwhichpointthedefrostcyclebegins.Thetimer
knobwilladvancethroughthedefrostcycle,then
clickloudlyattheendofthecycle(Fig.B).The
appliancewilldefrostautomaticallyevery12hours
afterthefirstdefrostcycle.
RoutineMaintenance
CleaningtheInterior
Besuretoturnthetem peraturecontrolto“OFF”
andunplugtheelectricalcord.Washtheinside
surfaceofthestorageareawithwarmwaterand
bakingsodasolution(aboutonetablespoonof
bakingsodaperquartofwarmwater).Rinse
thoroughlywithclean,warmwaterandwipedry.
CleaningtheExterior
Wipethecabinetexterioroccasionally withacloth
dampenedinmilddetergentandwater.Rinseand
wipedrywithasoftcloth.Donotuserazorblades
orothersharpinstrumentsthatcanscratchthe
appliancesurfacewhenremovingadhesivelabels.
Anyglueleftfromthetapecanbe removedwitha
mixtureofwarmwaterandmilddetergentortouch
theresiduewiththestickysideoftapealready
removed.DONOTREMOVETHESERIALPLATE.
CondensatePan
Somemodelshaveacondensatepanin afixed
positionlocatedbehindthetoegrill.Thismustnot
beremovedfromunderthecabinet.Ifthepanis
removed,condensatewilldropontothefloor.
POWERFAILURE
DONOTopentheappliancelidunnecessarilyifthe
applianceisoffforseveralhours.Ifapowerfailure
occurs,packsevenoreightpoundsofdryiceinto
theapplianceevery24hours.LookintheYellow
Pagesunder“DryIce”,“Dairies”,or“IceCream
Manufacturers”forlocaldryicesuppliers.Always
wearglovesandusecautionwhenhandlingdryice.
Operation
Runtheunitforatleast24hoursbefore
loading.
Whenloadingtheunit:
• Becarefulnottoblocktheairductlocated
atthebackandthefanontheceilingofthe
unitwithcontents.
• Blockingtheairflowmaycausedecreasein
performance.
