Server. Communication between the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
components on
workstations and the toolkit administrating component is supported by Kaspersky
Anti-Virus
®
Control Centre that is installed on user computers together with the
Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
package.
workstation
A computer that is the subject of anti-virus protection. This computer must have
the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
package and the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
Contol Centre
program preinstalled. A workstation may be added to a logical network
only
once. Every workstation on a logical network is attached to the supervising
server.
server
A local network computer with preinstalled Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
Server. This
computer performs the following functions: storing anti-virus database updates
and Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
package distributives, deploying software (see
deployment
), forwarding alerts (by e-mail) from the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
components installed on the workstations
(for example, an alert about virus
detection), monitoring for a virus outbreak,
and forwarding outbreak alerts. Every
server may control several workstations. See server storages
, primary server.
network configuration
A file containing data on the logical network

symbolic name of an administrator
A name that allows the administrator to log on to the KAV Network Control

alerts
Diagnostic messages that are generated by tasks running on workstations under

®
Scanner detects a
virus, it generates the alert "Infected object found", and if Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
Updater fails to update anti-virus databases, it generates the alert "An error has
occurred during Kaspersky AV Updater Wizard process". Alerts may be sent to
the administrator directly from the workstation
(in this case the required mailing
service must be configured on the workstation) or via the supervising server
(this
option is recommended). The Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
Server allows you to define
forwarding of the alerts according to their severity level
.
deployment of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
components on a workstation
An operation allowing the administrator to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus

programs
on network computers from the administrating station. During this operation, the
