Appendix C 125
settings tree
A settings unit presenting options in the form of a tree with conventional controls
as joints (buttons, drop-down lists, check-boxes and etc.). The settings tree
allows you to combine the advantages of hierarchical data formatting with
features of conventional control items.
quarantine
The directory containing infected and suspicious files in the encoded form, which
reduces the risk of infection from a virus and eliminates repeated scanning.
When Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
is managed by Kaspersky
®
Administration Kit the
user can choose between the local quarantine (on the corresponding
workstation) and the server quarantine (in the supervising server storage).
logical network
A collection of computers interconnected within a local network supporting
TCP/IP and running Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
package components (for the
purpose of anti-virus protection) that are managed via Kaspersky
®
Administration
Kit. Network here should be understood as a local network or several local
networks interconnected via TCP/IP. A logical network has a hierarchical
structure: it includes one primary server, an unlimited number of servers
and the
workstations
attached to them. Some servers together with the workstations
attached to them may constitute groups
.
updating of the virus-definition databases and the package programs
Updating of anti-virus databases and Kaspersky Labs programs on a workstation
is performed via Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
Updater running on the workstation. This
Kaspersky Anti-Virus
®
ackage component copies the contents of the
corresponding server storages
to the workstation. The storage contents are
updated using the same program via the Internet or from another server on the
local network.
Logical network objects
Workstations
, servers and also groups at any hierarchical level.

®
package

®
.
administrator password
A password protecting the network configuration
from unauthorized changes.
The logical network administrator
defines this password (together with the
symbolic name
) when entering the Kaspersky
®
Network Control Centre program
for the first time. For other administrators
the password and symbolic name are
defined by the supervising administrator. The administrator enters the
corresponding user name and password every time he or she logs on to the
program.
