Maintaining a logical network 107
9.4. If a workstation or a server are
unavailable
If a workstation is unavailable, it is indicated by the mark in the network
pane. The off-line mode of a workstation is also indicated in the network report
(see subchapter 9.1 on page 102).
Kaspersky
®
Network Control Centre automatically detects workstations in the off-
line mode. You can specify the time-out for network polling and set the maximum
time during which the server will attempt to connect to the object selected in the
list.
To define the time-out to wait for response from a workstation or a
server:
1. Select the Options command from the Tools menu.
2. In the Options dialog box (see Figure 96), expand the Timeouts
branch.
Figure 96. Setting timeouts
3. In the Connect to network object field, set the time-out interval
for the selected object to respond. In the Watch network object
state field, set the time-out interval for the polled object to respond
during network browsing (in seconds).
If a workstation is unavailable the administrator must investigate the causes: the
workstation can be disconnected from the network segment where the server is
located or Kaspersky AV Control Centre on this workstation does not work (or
corrupted). In the latter case, the program operability must be repaired (for
example, reinstalled, see subchapter 6.3 on page 47).
