The Ethernet Network

These are general instructions for using Ethernet Switch Modules (ESMs) to create an Inter-Reader (IR) Ethernet

network or a Lane Controller (LC) Ethernet network.

Installing an Ethernet network

Prerequisites: ESMs mounted according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

1. Use CAT 6 Ethernet cables to connect the components in the Ethernet network together as shown in the

examples in Figure 5-11. Consult the ESM manufacturer’s instructions for more details.
