Transponder Mounting Instructions
For split windshields with a central dividing post:
1. Identify the preferred mounting location 1from the
bottom of the windshield and 2to the left of the central
dividing post. If the windshield wiper obscures the
transponder, raise the mounting location to a maximum
of 3from the bottom of the windshield.
2. If the windshield wiper continues to obscure the
transponder after raising it a maximum of 3from the
bottom of the windshield, identify a mounting location 2
to the right of the central dividing post and 1“ from the
bottom of the windshield. If the windshield wiper
obscures the transponder, raise the mounting location to
a maximum of 3 from the bottom of the windshield.
3. Clean the mounting location in accordance with 3M
document 70-0709-4029-4.
4. Remove the protective backing from the two Dual Lock
fasteners and press the transponder onto the mounting
location, ensuring the status LEDs on the left side of the
transponder are facing the driver. Maintain the pressure
for approximately 15 seconds to ensure a good bond.
5. Remove the transponder by lifting any corner with
sufficient force to separate the Dual Lock strips. Do not
reuse the Dual Lock strips after removing them from the
windshield. Obtain new strips as required.
For windshields without a central dividing post:
1. Identify the mounting location 1from the bottom of the
windshield and in the center of the windshield as
measured from the right and left sides of the windshield.
If the windshield wiper obscures the TDMA V6
transponder, raise the mounting location to a maximum
of 3from the bottom of the windshield and/or move the
transponder a maximum of 2to the left or right of the
center of the windshield.
2. Clean the mounting location in accordance with 3M
document 70-0709-4029-4.
3. Remove the protective backing from the two Dual Lock
fasteners and press the transponder onto the mounting
location, ensuring the status LEDs on the left side of the
transponder are facing the driver. Maintain the pressure
for approximately 15 seconds to ensure a good bond.
4. Remove the transponder by lifting any corner with
sufficient force to separate the Dual Lock strips. Do not
reuse the Dual Lock strips after removing them from the
windshield. Obtain new strips as required.
