Do not overfill the equivalent of 5 cups, which is the maximum level represented by the metal strip
around the carafe.
Attention: Do not fill the espresso tank when the switch (b) is in the ON position. Your appliance
must be on when you fill the tank.
7. Place the cap of the tank (a) on the appliance and turn it clockwise until it locks completely (fig.
6).
8. Then place the lid on the carafe (j) in such a way that the opening of the carafe lid faces the spout
of the filter holder (g) (Fig. 7).
9. Place the carafe underneath the filter holder (g). Check if the spout of the filter holder faces the
opening of the carafe lid (Fig. 8).
Attention: Make sure that the grid of the drip tray (k) is placed.
10. If you want to prepare en espresso directly in the cups, fix the adapter (l) to the handle of the
filter holder (g) (Fig. 9) and place the cups underneath the filter holder spouts (Fig. 10).
11. You are now ready to prepare espressos. Press the espresso switch (b) (fig. 11). The pilot light
(m) comes on. Turn the control knob (c) to obtain a more or less hard coffee (fig. 12).
12. After about 2 minutes the water reaches the good temperature and flows through the coffee
grinding in the carafe or in the cups.
13. When the coffee production is complete, close the coffee strength control knob ( c) by turning it
clockwise (Fig. 13). Pre
appliance is off.
14. Before removing the filter holder (g), make sure there is no more pressure in the tank (as
described in the section SAFEGUARDS CONCERNING STEAM UNDER PRESSURE).
Caution
Be careful when you remove the filter holder (g) because the metal parts can be still hot. To remove
the filter holder, turn it to the left and go over the closing zone until the filter holder comes out of the
appliance (Fig. 14).
Attention: Make sure that the tank is empty and that there is no more steam under pressure.
Remove the filter holder (g). Place the filter locking device (in order that the filter doesn’t fall)
and empty the coffee grinding from the filter (h) (Fig.15).
HOW TO PREPARE A CAPPUCCINO
1. To make cappuccino, the first step is making espresso. So fill the carafe (j) with the necessary
water quantity to obtain the desired espresso quantity and add more water in order to froth the
milk (see section Measures indication).
2. Fill the half or the third of a small container with fresh full-cream milk.
3. To make a espresso coffee, put the switch (b) on the ON position. When you obtain the half of
the desired coffee quantity, turn the coffee strength control knob (c) in order to stop the coffee
flowing. At this stage the steam pressure in the tank is enough to froth the milk and the steam
pilot light (n) is on (fig. 16). It is better to proceed step by step to avoid the diminution of the
steam production at the end of the cycle when all the water of the tank has flown through the
grinding.
4. To froth the milk, turn the steam pipe (e) to the outside of the appliance, place the container with
the milk under the pipe (Fig. 17), plunge the steam pipe (e) in the milk and turn the steam control
knob (d) anti-clockwise (Fig. 18) for approximatively 45-60 seconds depending how much froth
you need and what type of milk you are using.
To obtain a smooth froth immerse the steam pipe (e) at about 3 cm in the milk. Lift and lower
the container but without immersing the pipe more than 3 cm in it. Do not bring the milk to the
boil.
5. Once the froth is obtained, shut off steam by turning the steam control knob (d) clockwise.
