TOOLS NEEDED:
NOTE: FAILURE TO FOLLOW INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS AND NOT USING THE PROVIDED HARDWARE
MAY DAMAGE THE INTAKE TUBE, THROTTLE BODY AND ENGINE.
1. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative
battery cable.
NOTE: Disconnecting the negative battery cable
erases pre-programmed electronic memories.
Write down all memory settings before
disconnecting the negative battery cable. Some
radios will require an anti-theft coded to be
entered after the battery is reconnected. The
anti-theft code is typically supplied with your
owner’s manual. In the event your vehicles’
anti-theft code cannot be recovered, contact an
authorized dealership to obtain your vehicles
anti-theft code.

2. Disconnect the mass air sensor electrical
connection and unhook the wiring harness from the
factory air box.
3. Release the four upper air box retaining clips
and then remove the upper air box from the
vehicle.
4. Remove the two air box mounting bolts shown.
5. Loosen the hose clamp which secures the air
box to the throttle body.
6. Release the spring clamp which secures the
crank case vent hose to the air box and then
disconnect the crankcase vent hose.
7. Remove the complete air box assembly from the
vehicle.
NOTE: Use caution while removing the air box
to avoid damage. The air box can be removed
without removing the battery.
NOTE: K&N Engineering, Inc., recommends that
customers do not discard factory air intake.
8. Install the provided edge trim onto the heat
shield as shown.
NOTE: Some trimming of the edge trim will be
necessary.

10. Remove the bolt which secures the ground
strap to the transmission mount.
9. Install the provided tube mounting bracket
(070049) onto the heat shield as shown using the
provided hardware.
NOTE: Do not completely tighten at this time.
9a. For manual transmission equipped vehicles,
skip to step #12.
11. Install the heat shield mounting bracket
(083112) onto the ground strap location from step
#10. Be sure to secure the ground strap on top of
the installed bracket.
12. Install the heat shield assembly into position
and secure to the previously installed bracket with
the hardware provided.
NOTE: For manual transmission equipped
vehicles, the heat shield will be secured to the
factory air box mounting bracket only.
