INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Continued
1. Start the engine with the transmission in neutral
or park, and the parking brake engaged. Listen
for air leaks or odd noises. For air leaks secure
hoses and connections. For odd noises, find cause
and repair before proceeding. This kit will function
identically to the factory system except for being
louder and much more responsive.
2. Test drive the vehicle. Listen for odd noises or
rattles and x as necessary.
3. If road test is ne, you can now enjoy the added
power and performance from your kit.
4. K&N Engineering, Inc., requires cleaning the
intake system’s air lter element every 100,000
miles. When used in dusty or o-road
environments, our lters will require cleaning more
often. We recommend that you visually inspect
your lter once every 25,000 miles to determine
if the screen is still visible. When the screen is no
longer visible some place on the lter element, it is
time to clean it. To clean and re-oil, purchase our
lter Recharger
®
service kit, part number 99-5050
or 99-5000 and follow the easy instructions.
ROAD TESTING:
34. Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable.
Double check to make sure everything is tight and
properly positioned before starting the vehicle.

33. Install the K&N
®
air lter onto the K&N
®
intake
tube and secure with the provided hose clamp.

26c. Remove the air temperature sensor from the
stock intake tube and install it into the grommet
installed in the K&N
®
intake tube in the provious
step as shown.
27. Install the K&N
®
intake tube onto the throttle
body and align it with the saddle clamp on the heat
shield and secure with the provided hose clamps.
28. On vehicles equipped with air injection pump,
attach the air injection hose to the tting on the
K&N
®
intake tube.
NOTE: Remove the stock pipe assembly from
the injection hose.
28a. On vehicles not equipped with an air injectino
pump, install the provided “Caplug” onto the vent
port on the K&N
®
intake tube and secure with the
provided hose clamp as shown.
28b. On vehicles equipped with an air temperature
sensor, reconnect the air temperature sensor
electrical connection as shown.
29. Attach the provided 1/2” hose to the crank case
vent on the cam cover, then attach the other end to
the vent on the K&N
®
intake tube.
32. Install the radiused adapter onto the K&N
®
intake tube.
35. It will be necessary for all K&N
®
high ow intake
systems to be checked periodically for realignment,
clearance and tightening of all connections.
Failure to follow the above instructions or proper
maintenance may void warranty.

26a. On vehicles equipped with an air temperature
sensor, position the air temperature sensor wiring
harness on the intake tube for best t and mark
the position on the intake tube with a marker for
drilling.
26. Install the intake K&N
®
tube and secure the
hump hose to the throttle body as shown.
26b.On vehicles equipped with an inlet air
temperature sensor, remove the intake tube
from the vehicle and drill a 5/8”id hole at the spot
indicated in the previous step. Install the provided
grommet into the hole as shown.
