Installation Instructions to
Install a JD 8000 Series
Buddy Seat
1. Remove the 4 bolts holding the sus-
pension to the pedestal.
2. Put the three 3/8" x 1" carriage bolts
into the side of the base frame. Also put
the two 3/8" x 1" carriage bolts in from the
bottom of the base frame. (It may help to
start a nut on each bolt to hold it in
place.)
3. Place the base frame in between the
seat pedestal and the wheel well. (If you
started nuts on the bolts in the base
frame, remove the nuts)
4. Lift the seat and slide the mount place
in between the seat suspension and the
seat pedestal. The lip of the mount
plate goes to the left (as you sit in the
operator's seat) and will go over the base
frame. The three carriage bolts will con-
nect the mount plate and base frame
together. Start the nuts. Do not tighten at
this time.
5. Fasten the suspension down using
your original bolts and washers.

6. Fasten the upright frame to the base plate. Slide it over the two bolts that were installed in step 2. The front lip of
the upright frame will go to the inside of the base frame and the back lip will go to the outside. Install the two 3/8" x
1"carriage bolts on the back lip and the one on the front.
7. Mount the seat belt to the seat frame using the 1/2" x 1" bolts and lock nuts provided.
8. Fasten the seat frame to the upright frame using four 3/8" x 1" carriage bolts.
9. Tighten all hardware.
