• Activating the Surround Modes
Available Surround modes vary depending on the spe_er settings
and the incoming sigmfls, (gee page 36.)
Activating one of the Surrotmd modes for a sotwee automatically
recalls the memaF_,_l settings and adjustments (see pages 2'J to
33.)
• Activating the EX/ES setting
For multi-channel digit_fl soi_w_e, you can _v_e the EX/ES (7.1
chine1) _r_uc_on mo_.
• Once you have set EXLES (7.1 -channel) reproduction m¢_c, it is
stored in memt_" and will be called up wbonevor you activate the
Surround m_c which the memt_riz_d EX/ES (.7,1-channel)

• Each time you press the button, i_changes as follows:
EXiES AUTO*: According to the incoming signaI, an
approIYr'_te Surround mode is applied,
• For Dolby 1)igit_flEX and I_)'I'S-_,
EX/ES (7.1 -channel) reIrrodaction is
applied,
• For 5.1 channel (or less) encoded
sotlware, 5,I-channel rewodaction is
applied,
EXiES ON*: Selec_ to apply EX/ES (7,1-channel)
reproduction to both 5.Dchannel and 6.I
channel encoded soilware,
EXiES OFF: Selec_ to cancel the EX/ES (7,1 channel)
r_r_ucfion.
* If the surround back speakers are not connected or deactivated,
Virtual 6. t-channel surreand is ,'_plied.
Notes:
• When Surround mode is deactivated, pressing EX/ES wilt
activate an appropriate Surround mode for the current source.
• When an analog or digital2-channel source is playing, you can
adjust the EX/ES (7.1-_hanneO reproduction mode and store
the setting, but it will not affect the current source.
• When the source is one to which the EX/ES (7. l..channeO
reproduction cannot be applied, you can adjust the setting and
store in memo04 but reproduction channels will remain
unchange_

1. Select and play any source other than "DVD
MULTI."
- Make strre you have selected the analog c¢ digital input m_e,
- SurrOund modes are not valid {'_yrDVD MlJU[_[ playback
mode.
2. Press SURROUND to activate the Surround
mode.
- For multi-chaonel digital software (except 2-channel and
l)wal Mona saftware), incoming signaIs am automatic*fl ly
detected and the approIrriate s_rround mode is activated (see
page 36 for details).

- If the _/ES (7.1 -channel) reproduction m_e h_ been set
to "AUTO" c_r *'ON,*'one of the EX/_ (7. l-channel)
reproduction mg_es will be activated (see the lei't coIumn).
- For analog sources mrd digital 2-chmmel mrtwa_, you can
select one of the following Surroend mc_es, Each time you
press SUltROUND, Stt_und modes change as follows:

To cancel the Surround mode
Press SURROUND/DSP Oh_ (or SURlt/DSP OFF on the remote
control), *'SURR OFF" appears on the display.
