Preparation
To view an image on the TV screen, select the
video signal type correctly according to the TV
after connecting the main unit to the TV.
■ IMPORTANT
• Slide the remote control mode
selector to [SHIFT].
1 Turn on the main unit.
• Refer to “Turning on/off the main unit” on
page 13.
2 Press [DVD 3] or [USB 3].
• When a disc is loaded or a USB device is
connected, press 7 to stop playback.
3 Press [SCAN MODE].
• The current video signal type appears.
Example: When “RGB” is selected as the
video signal
4 Press 2 or 3 (cursor) to select the
video signal type suitable for the
TV.
• When the TV is connected to the [AV] termi-
nal, select “RGB” or “Y/C”. (“RGB” is the
recommended setting.)
• When the TV is connected to the [VIDEO]
terminal, select “RGB”.
• When the TV is connected to the [COMPO-
NENT] terminals, select “576P”.
• When the TV is connected to the [HDMI MON-
ITOR OUT] terminal, the video signal type can
be selected as instructed below.
- Select “AUTO” for normal usage. (the ini-
tial setting)
- Select “576P”, “720P”, “1080I” or “1080P”
as needed. (The selectable settings differ
according to the resolution of the con-
nected TV.)
• You can also select the video signal type by
repeatedly pressing [SCAN MODE].
NOTE
• “576”, “720” and “1080” refer to the number of
the scanning lines. Generally, the larger the
number, the better picture that can be obtained.
• “I” refers to the interlaced format. “P” refers to
the progressive format. A better picture can be
obtained in the progressive format than in the
interlaced format.
• When an HDMI video signal is output, the
“HDMI” indicator lights up in the display window.
• When an HD video signal is output, the “HD”
indicator lights up.
• When “576P”, “720P” or “1080P” is selected, the
“PROGRESSIVE” indicator lights up in the dis-
play window.
5 Press [ENTER].
NOTE
• It is recommended that you slide the remote
control mode selector to [AUDIO] after selecting
the video signal type. Most of the other functions
can be used when the remote control mode
selector is at [AUDIO].
• When the [AV] and [HDMI MONITOR OUT] ter-
minals are connected at the same time, the
image from the [AV] terminal is not displayed
properly.
• Even if the main unit is turned off, the video sig-
nal type setting is stored.
