Lock Button MENU Wheel
Power Switch

Manua! exposure control is recommended in the
following situations:
• When shooting using reverse lighting or when the
background is too bright.
• When shooting on a reflective natural background
such as at the beach or when skiing.
• When the background is overly dark or the subject
is bright.
1 Set the Power Switch to "_" while pressing down
the Lock Button located on the switch.
2 Open the LCD monitor fully, or pull out the
viewfinder fully.
3 Set "D" to "MANUAL". (_ pg. 31,34)
• The exposure control indicator appears.
4 To brighten the image, rotate the MENU Wheel
towards "+'. To darken the image, rotate the
MENU Wheel towards "--'. (maximum ±6)
• +3 exposure has the same effect as the
backlight compensation, g-_ pg. 47)
• --3 exposure has the same effect as when "1_"
is set to "SPOTLIGHT". (_mpg. 33)
5 Press the MENU Wheel in. Exposure adjustment
is complete.
TO return to automatic exposure control...
Set "D"/o "AUTO". (_:_pg. 31,34) Or, set the
Power Switch to "1_!".
NOTES:
• You cannot use the manual exposure control at the
same time when "_" is set t_* "SPOTLIGHT" or
"SNOW" _:_7lag. 33), or with the backlight
compensation. 13 pg. 47)
• If the adjustment does not cause any visible
change in brightness, set "GAIN UP" to "AUTO".

| IrisLock
Like the pupil of the human eye, the iris contracts in
well-lit environments/o keep too much light from
entering, and dilates in dim environments to allow
in more light.
Use this function in the following situations:
• When shooting a moving subject.
• When the distance to the subject changes (so its
size in the LCD monitor or the viewfinder
changes), such as when the subject is backing
away.
• When shooting on a reflective natural background
such as at the beach or when skiing.
• When shooting objects under a spotlight.
• When zooming.
When the subject is close, keep the iris locked. Even
when the subject moves away from you, the image
will not darken or brighten.
I Set the Power Switch to "_" while pressing down
the Lock Button located on the switch.
2 Open the LCD monitor fully, or pull out the
viewfinder fully.
3 Set "D" to "MANUAL". (_mpg, 3I, 34)
• The exposure control indicator appears.
4 Adjust zoom so that the subject fitls the LCD
monitor or the viewfinder, then press and hold
the MENU Wheel in for over 2 seconds. The
exposure control indicator and the "ll"
indication appear.
Pressthe MENU Wheel in.
The "1_" indication
changes to "_l" and the iris
is locked.
To return to automatic iris
control,..
Set '_" to "AUTO". Iris LockIndicator

Power Switch/o "1_1".
• The exposure control indicator and "_l"
disappear.
TO lock the exposure control and the irls,,,
After step 3 of "Exposure Control', adiust the
exposure by rotating the MENU Wheel. Then lock
the iris in step 5 of "Iris Lock". For automatic
locking, select "AUTO" in step 3. The iris becomes
automatic after about 2 seconds.
