Expansion Pods Page 8-3
Expansion Pods
The expansion pod accessory for the Allegro CE adds capability to
the field computer while maintaining the waterproof and dustproof
integrity of the rugged unit. Expansion pod added capabilities
include:
1. Automatically logging the identification of an inventoried asset
using the integrated bar code scanner in an extremely harsh
environment.
2. W irelessly sending or receiving information from the action point
to your local area network via the Allegr o with the Wi-Fi 802.1 1b
receiver.
3. Mapping your position or navigating to a known location using
the integrated GPS receiver.
Custom expansion pods can be designed to meet the specialty needs
of system integrators or OEM’s. An expansion pod can be installed on
the Allegro after purchase if you find that you want to add this
capability to the product in the future. Contact your sales
representative for details.
The following expansion pods are available:
GPS Pod
The GPS expansion pod integrates the Trimble Lassen LP
TM
receiver
with the Allegro placing GPS technology in the palm of your hand.
Bar Code Pod
The bar code pod takes technology of the Symbol bar code scanner
and combines it with the rugged reliability of the Allegro CE. This
integrated system eliminates the need for an external bar code
scanner with cables that can get in the way.
802.11b Pod
The 802.11b expansion pod integrates wireless LAN technology with
the Allegro CE. This combination allows you to collect data outside
and transfer it wirelessly into a computer in a nearby building.
Bar Code/802.11b Pod
This integrates both the bar code and 802.11b technology into one
expansion pod for the Allegro CE.
