This sensor emits an infrared light
so that when it hits an obstacle, it is
reflected and received by the pho-
todiode. Both the sensitivity of the
receiver and the strength of the
transmitter can be adjusted. This
makes it possible to adjust the dis-
tance at which the sensor is trig-
gered. This is done with two dier-
ent potentiometers.
The sensor can be used to control
autonomous robots, for example.
