Averaging Sensing
Series-parallel wiring arrangements of four (2 x 2), nine
(3 x 3), sixteen (4 x 4), or more sensors provide an
average temperature reading in an area or large duct
when one sensor cannot provide a representative
reading. (See Figure 4.)
A series-parallel arrangement requires the same
number of parallel-connected sensors as there are
series-connected sensors. For example:
with four sensors, connect two parallel legs with
two sensors in series in each leg
with nine sensors, connect three parallel legs with
three sensors in series in each leg
Note: All sensors in a series-parallel network must be
of the same sensor type and value. For example, use
all 100 ohm platinum or all 1k ohm nickel sensors.
