INSTALLATION It’s a good idea to read all of the instructions before beginning the installation. We recommend having your Jensen MP1514BT Mobile Audio System installed by a reputable installation shop. Notes: • Choose a mounting location where the unit will not interfere with the driver. • Before installing the unit, temporarily connect the wiring. Make sure it is connected up properly and the unit and the system work properly. • To ensure proper installation, use only parts included with the unit.
MP1514BT DIN Front Mount (Method A) Installation Opening This unit can be installed in any dashboard having an opening as shown below: Installing the Unit Be sure you test all connections first, and then follow these steps to install the unit. 1. Make sure the ignition is turned off, and then disconnect the cable from the vehicle battery’s negative (-) terminal. 2. Disconnect the wire harness and the antenna. 3.
6. M ount the sleeve by inserting it into the opening of the dashboard and bend open the tabs located around the sleeve with a screwdriver. Not all tabs will be able to make contact, so examine which ones will be most effective. Bending open the appropriate tabs behind the dashboard to secure the sleeve in place. (1) Dashboard (2) Tabs 7. R econnect the wire harness and the antenna and be careful not to pinch any wires or cables. 8. Slide the unit into the sleeve until it locks into place.
MP1514BT 9. T o further secure the unit, use the supplied metal strap to secure the back of the unit in place. Use the supplied hardware (Hex Nut (M5mm) and Spring Washer) to attach one end of the strap to the mounting bolt on the back of the unit. If necessary, bend the metal strap to fit your vehicle’s mounting area, then use the supplied hardware (Tapping Screw and Plain Washer) to attach the other end of metal strap to a solid metal part of the vehicle under the dashboard.
Removing the Unit 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 10 ake sure the ignition is turned off, then disconnect the cable from the M vehicle battery’s negative (-) terminal. Remove the metal strap attached the back of the unit (if attached). Press the release button to remove the faceplate. Lift the top of the outer trim ring then pull it out to remove it. Insert both of the supplied keys into the slots at the middle left and right sides of the unit, then pull the unit out of the dashboard.
MP1514BT DIN Rear Mount (Method B) Note: T he outer trim ring, sleeve and the metal strap are not used for method B installation. If your vehicle is a Nissan or Toyota, follow these mounting instructions: 1. Use the screw holes marked T (Toyota), N (Nissan) located on both sides of the unit to fasten the unit to the factory radio mounting brackets supplied with your vehicle. USING THE DETACHABLE FACEPLATE Removing the Faceplate 1. Press the (release) button on the faceplate and pull off the faceplate. Release Button Faceplate 2. Keep the faceplate in the protective case.
MP1514BT Installing the Faceplate To install the faceplate, insert the faceplate into the housing and make sure it is properly installed. Otherwise, the display may appear to be abnormal or some buttons will not function properly. Handling Precautions 1. Do not drop the faceplate. 2. D o not put pressure on the display or control buttons when detaching or reinstalling the faceplate. 3. Do not touch the contacts on the faceplate or on the main unit body. It may result in poor electrical contact. 4.

By using this option, you can quickly choose the track(s) on the disc that you prefer. When the desired track is recognized, press the button again to cancel the introductory mode. 2.
4. (Eject) Button When pressed, disc play is stopped and the disc is automatically ejected. The CD icon will disappear from the display panel and the unit will revert to radio operation. If the disc is not removed from the unit, it will automatically be reloaded within 10 seconds to prevent accidental disc damage. The CD icon will remain displayed to indicate a disc is still loaded in the unit.
MP1514BT 10. V olume Knob (when rotated) / SELECT Button (when pressed) Rotate the knob to increase or decrease the volume. VOL appears on the display panel, followed by the setting number. When pressed, the knob performs the Select function. This button is used to select the audio function (bass, treble, balance, fade or loudness) to be adjusted. Press the button once to select bass adjustment (BAS appears on the display panel).
. B AND / SEARCH / iPod-MENU Button Press this button to select or change the radio band (FM1, FM2, FM3 or AM). Press and hold this button to access the Auto-Store Tuning feature. If an iPod or iPhone is connected, press this button to initiate a category search. 19. (tune/seek/track down) / Button During disc play, this button is used to quickly select the beginning of a particular track in the backward direction.
MP1514BT REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION Battery Installation The remote control comes with a battery already installed with a Pull Tab to prevent battery discharge. Remove the Pull Tab before attempting to use the remote control. Note: T he remote control will only operate this device. It is not a universal remote control and will not control other equipment. MP1514BT 4. S EL (Sound Mode Select) Button This button is used to select the audio function (bass, treble, balance, fade or loudness) to be adjusted. Press the button once to select bass adjustment (BAS appears on the display panel). Pressing the button additional times will select treble adjustment (TRB), balance (BAL R-L), fader (FAD R-F), and return to volume (VOL). The display will return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.
12. 8 / EQ (Equalizer) Button Press this button to turn on the equalizer and to select the desired audio mode. Press and hold this button to turn TA (traffic announcement) mode on or off. 13. 9 / PTY (Program Type) Button Press this button to enter the PTY select mode. 14. 0 / DISP (Display) Button Press this button to change the information appearing on the LCD display.
MP1514BT 21. / BAND / LOUD Button In radio mode, press this button to select or change the radio band (FM1, FM2, FM3 or AM). Press and hold this button to turn the loudness function on or off. In Bluetooth mode, press this button to hang up or reject an incoming call. When using the numeric keypad, press this button to back space. In MP3 mode, press this button to initiate a track (file) or directory search. 22.
BASIC OPERATION Switching the Unit On or Off Press the /MUTE button to turn the unit on. The button illuminates. When unit is on, press and hold the /MUTE button to turn the unit off. Releasing the Faceplate Press the (Release) button to detach the removable faceplate. Sound Adjustment Mode The sound adjustment mode allows you to easily adjust your mobile audio system to meet the acoustical characteristics of your vehicle. To Adjust the Sound: 1.
MP1514BT System Settings When using the mobile audio system for the first time, it is recommended that you customize the system settings to suit your preferences. To Customize System Settings: 1. Press and hold the volume knob to enter system setting mode. “BEEP ON” or “BEEP OFF” appears in the display panel. 2. Press the volume knob briefly again until the system setting you want to change appears in the display panel. The system settings are listed below. 3.

T A SEEK/ALARM (Traffic announcements seek/alarm) Rotate the volume knob to set TA SEEK or TA ALARM. • TA SEEK: When the TA function is activated, the unit searches for a station with traffic announcements. • TA ALARM: No automatic station search. The unit sounds a beep tone if no traffic information is received and “NO TP/TA” is displayed. “SEEK PI” is displayed if the selected station does not transmit an RDS signal. 7. TA VOL Rotate the volume knob to adjust the traffic announcement volume value.
MP1514BT Equalizer Presets The Equalizer Preset function applies a preset sound level to the unit’s audio output signal in accordance to the type of music being played. To Select an Equalizer Preset: 1. Press the EQ button briefly to turn on equalization function. 2. Press the EQ button briefly again to select the desired equalizer setting. The equalizer settings will change in the following order: FLAT CLASSICS POP ROCK DSP OFF Mute Press the /MUTE button briefly to mute the sound instantly.
Factory Reset Function The factory reset function restores the unit to its factory default settings. Reset the system for the following reasons: • Initial installation of the unit when all wiring is completed. • All the function buttons do not operate. • Error symbol on the display panel. To Reset the System: 1. Remove the front panel to access the RESET button. 2. Use the tip of a ballpoint pen or sharp metal object to press the RESET button. The factory default settings are restored.
MP1514BT RADIO OPERATION Switching to Radio Mode Press the MODE button briefly to select radio mode. The radio frequency appears in the display panel together with the frequency memory band (F1, F2, F3 or AM). Selecting the Frequency Band In radio mode, press the BAND button briefly to select the desired frequency band.
Setting Station Preset Memory Locations The unit has four memory bands - three FM bands (FM1, FM2, and FM3) and one AM band (AM1). Each of the four bands can store up to six preset stations, for a total of 24 preset memory stations. To Manually Set any of the 6 Preset Memories in Each Band: 1. Turn the radio on and select the desired band. 2. Select the first station to be preset. a. Press and hold the button or button until “MANUAL” appears on the display panel. b. Tune to the desired station.
MP1514BT Radio Data System (RDS) Operation The Radio Data System (RDS) simultaneously transmits digital data along with the audio signal on FM radio. Although RDS is a European standard, it is also used in the USA, where it is called Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS). RDS enables traffic reports to be received and provides many facilities, including enabling the radio station name and program information to be displayed on the display panel. To Use Program Type (PTY) to Select Programs: 1.
CD/MP3/WMA OPERATION Loading a Disc If there is no CD/MP3/WMA disc inserted in the CD player: Gently insert a disc with the label side up into the disc slot until you feel some resistance. The disc will be drawn into the player automatically. “READING CDP PLAY” appears in the display panel then disc playback begins. The CD icon appears, indicating a disc is loaded in the unit.
MP1514BT Repeating a Track Press the RPT button to continuously repeat the same track. “S-RPT” and the track number will appear on the display panel. Press the RPT button again to cancel the repeat function. When playing a MP3/WMA disc, press and hold the RPT button to repeat all tracks in the current directory. “D-RPT” and the track number will appear on the display panel. Press the RPT button again to cancel the repeat function.
Disc Notes Notes on discs: • This unit will only play the following discs: Type of Disc CD, MP3, WMA Label on the disc Recorded Material Size of Disc Audio only 12 cm • Do not use irregularly shaped discs such as heart or star-shaped discs as they may cause the unit to malfunction. Be sure to use round shape CD discs only for this unit. • Do not stick paper or tape, etc, onto the label side or the recording side of any discs, as it may cause a malfunction.
MP1514BT USB OPERATION The unit contains a USB interface. The USB interface is located on the faceplate beneath the protective cover. You can connect an USB memory device using this interface. Auxiliary Input Cover AUX Connector USB Connector 1. Locate the Auxiliary Input Cover on the faceplate. 2. Lift the Auxiliary Input Cover to reveal the USB connector. 3. Insert the USB device into the USB connector. The unit will read the audio files on the USB device automatically.
MEMORY CARD OPERATION There is an SD Memory Card Slot on the housing of the unit. The housing is accessed by removing the faceplate. 1. Press the release button on the faceplate. I nstall the faceplate. The unit will search the MP3 files in the card and start to play MP3 files automatically.
MP1514BT Selecting Tracks Using the Band Button When playing MP3 discs, using a USB thumbdrive or SD card, you may initiate a search for files or directories by pressing the BAND button. The types of searches you may perform are described below: To Search for Tracks Directly: 1. Press the BAND button once. 2. Rotate the volume knob to select a track number. 3. Press the volume knob to start playing the track. To Search for a Directory or File Name: 1. Press the BAND button twice. 2.
iPod®/iPhone® OPERATION An iPod or iPhone device can be connected to the unit through the USB interface on the front panel. Once connected, if the unit is in another mode of operation press the MODE button to select iPod mode. Selecting a Category hen iPod or iPhone is playing, press the BAND (iPod-MENU) button. The W category will appear on the display. 2. Rotate the volume knob to change the category as follows: PLAY LIST ARTIST ALBUM GENRE SONGS 3.
MP1514BT BLUETOOTH® WIRELESS DEVICE OPERATION Wireless products featuring Bluetooth technology have the capability to wirelessly synchronize and transfer data among devices. The Bluetooth audio capabilities can be used for mobile phones hands free applications. Bluetooth wireless technology has many profiles and the unit is compatible with most mobile phones featuring Bluetooth wireless technology.
5. A t this point a prompt stating that pairing is successful should appear. Another prompt should appear asking connect to the unit, Yes or No. Press Yes. The mobile phone and the unit should connect. The mobile phone should display a message similar to “Device Connected.” The mobile phone and the unit are now connected. When successfully paired, “BT AUDIO” and the Bluetooth symbol appears on the display panel. Note: I f pairing fails, try to pair again within several seconds.
MP1514BT • DIALED: Display the last 10 dialed numbers. Rotate or press the volume knob to scan the numbers. Press the button to dial the number. • MISSED: Displays the call you have missed. Rotate or press the volume knob to scan the numbers. Press the button to dial the number. • MANU ANS/AUTO ANS: In this mode, rotate or press the volume knob to select MANU ANS (manual answer) or AUTO ANS (auto answer). AUTO ANS mode - The unit will answer an incoming call automatically.
3. P ress the button again to call the number. “CALLING” appears on the display panel. Note: I f you input a wrong number, press the /BAND button to clear it. Press and hold the /BAND button to clear all numbers. 4. To redial the number: a. Press the button twice. “LAST NUM” appears on the display panel. b. Press the button again to redial the last called number. Holding a Call While talking mode, press the button to interrupt the call temporarily. Press the button again to continue the call.

TROUBLESHOOTING Before going through the checklist, the check wiring connections. If any of the problems persist after checking the list, contact your nearest service dealer. Problem Cause Solution No power. • The car ignition switch is not on. • If the power supply is connected to the car accessory circuits, but the engine is not running, switch the ignition key to “ACC”. • Replace the fuse. Make sure the amperage matches the specified value. • The fuse is blown.
MP1514BT Problem Cause Solution The operation keys do not work. • The built-in microcomputer is not operating properly due to noise. • Press the RESET button. • The faceplate is not properly installed. The radio does not work. • The antenna cable is not connected. • Insert the antenna cable firmly. The radio station automatic selection does not work. • The signals are too weak. • Select a station manually.

Insert only 5” (12 cm) compact discs into the player. The mechanism can be damaged by foreign objects. Do not attempt to use a 3” (8 cm) CD-Single disc in this unit, either with or without an adaptor.

B otón 2 / INT (Introducción) Mientras se reproduce un disco, presione este botón para oír una muestra o explorar la introducción o los primeros 10 segundos de cada pista del disco. Con esta opción, puede seleccionar rápidamente la(s) pista(s) del disco que usted prefiera.
