Cycle the ignition key when the vehicle has completely stopped and the shift lever is placed in the PARK position; the light should turn off.
WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES IF YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS • In any of the following situations, you can reduce the potential for overheating by taking the appropriate action. • On the highways — slow down. • In city traffic — while stopped, shift transmission into NEUTRAL, but do not increase engine idle speed. NOTE: There are steps that you can take to slow down an impending overheat condition: • If your air conditioner (A/C) is on, turn it off.
WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES JACKING AND TIRE CHANGING WARNING! • Do not attempt to change a tire on the side of the vehicle close to moving traffic. Pull far enough off the road to avoid the danger of being hit when operating the jack or changing the wheel. • Getting under a jacked-up vehicle is dangerous. The vehicle could slip off the jack and fall on you. You could be crushed. Never get any part of your body under a vehicle that is on a jack.

WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES • Place the jack: • For front wheels, place it under the front lower control arm. • For rear wheels, place it under the axle near the wheel to be changed. • Turn the jack screw clockwise to firmly engage the jack saddle with the lift area of the sill flange. • Raise the vehicle by turning the jack screw clockwise. Raise the vehicle only until the tire just clears the surface and enough clearance is obtained to install the spare tire.
WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES JUMP-STARTING WARNING! Any procedure other than the following could result in: • Personal injury caused by electrolyte squirting out the battery vent, • Personal injury or property damage due to battery explosion, • Damage to the charging system of the booster vehicle or of the immobilized vehicle. Don’t lean over the battery when attaching clamps or allow the clamps to touch each other. • Do not use a booster battery or any other booster source with an output that exceeds 12-volts (i.e., do not use a 24-volt power source). • Check the battery test indicator (if equipped).
WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES EMERGENCY TOW HOOKS • If your vehicle is equipped with tow hooks, they are mounted in the front and the rear. NOTE: For off-road recovery, it is recommended to use both of the front tow hooks to minimize the risk of damage to the vehicle. WARNING! • Chains are not recommended for freeing a stuck vehicle. Chains may break, causing serious injury or death. • Stand clear of vehicles when pulling with tow hooks. Tow straps and chains may break, causing serious injury.
