7 Entering a Call-For-Fire
In the Menubar you will find the Fire Mission menu which provides facilities to enter and control
calls-for-fire.
Trainee can enter a call for fire either free text entry, or using the Transmissoin panels. The Fire
Mission menu provides the panels to enter a call-for-fire. Entry support for US Doctrine.
VBS3Fires supports generic versions of NATO and Commonwealth doctrines. Selecting a Doctrine
can be viewed from Doctrine section of Preferences panel. To open the panel, go to: Menubar
Tools Preferences. In Preferences panel open the section General Doctrine. This will
described later further in detail.
The doctrine of a Battery can be set while creating the Battery or by editing its parameters. Doctrine
is one of the parameters of a Battery accessible in VBS3 Offline Mission Editor (OME). The doctrine
of a Battery is not affected by the doctrine settings in VBS3Fires application.
7.1 NATO Trainee Call For Fire Terminal
VBS3Fires enables data entry panels in VBS3 that allows you to rapidly and easily build a call-for-fire
transmission. This set of panels is introduced as NATO Trainee Calls for Fire.
Each of the panel of NATO Trainee Calls for Fire constructs the text of a call-for-fire transmission
which is then sent across the radio network.
The VBS3 Direct Call-For-Fire terminal is available with Stand-alone mode and in a network scenario
it is available for VBS3Fires Trainee mode.
7.1.1 Panels of NATO Trainee Calls for Fire
NATO Trainee Calls for Fire consists of four panels, each one appearing one after the other. For
