VBS3Fires v3.6.3 User Guide
© SimCentric Technologies 2015
This will create a firesOptions.xml file in your VBS3Fires user directory. Copying this file from
that directory to the myData installation directory will apply those settings to all users who
haven’t explicitly overwritten with their own settings.
26.4 Radio Nets
The radioNets.dat file can be used to define the radio nets for a given scenario. The specific details
of the radioNets.dat file contents are covered in the ‘defining a scenario’ section of the manual.
When loading the radioNets.dat file, VBS3Fires will first try to read the file from the current mission
directory. If there is no such file in the mission directory, it will attempt to read it from the myData
directory, before finally using the default radio net.
The loading order for radio nets is:
1. Attempt to load from Mission directory %USERPROFILE%\Documents\VBS3\[Mission
directory]\radioNets.dat
2. Attempt to load from myData directory [InstallDir]\myData\ radioNets.dat
3. Use default values
26.5 General Ballistics Data
The following files allow ballistics data for a mission to be defined. Changes to these files will affect
the ballistic trajectory of all projectiles in a VBS3Fires scenario. For each of these files, the loading
order is:
1. Attempt to load from mission directory
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\VBS3\[Mission directory]\<filename>
2. Attempt to load from myData directory [InstallDir]\myData\<filename>
3. Use default values
The data specified in these files is used to simulate the actual trajectory of rounds, and it is also send
to all of the battery Fire Control computers simulated by VBS3Fires, so that these factors are
accounted for when planning the trajectory of a projectile.
