24.9 Placing a Battalion
The Battalion is to be placed by first creating a battery, which would then show the Object
Properties window, here the first field is Type, the type would currently display ‘Battery’, this should
be changed to ‘Battalion’. Upon changing it to ‘Battalion’, the object properties window would
change displaying fields related to the Battalion Object. This will contain a number of options for the
battalion. This can be used to specify the battalion object.
24.9.1 Specifying Battalion parameters
The Battalion’s parameters are:
1. Type. This is used to define whether Battery is a Battery or Battalion
2. Name. This is the name that will be displayed inside VBS3Fires to represent that battalion. It
must contain no spaces or punctuation.
3. Doctrine. Specify to use the NATO call for fire doctrine for this Battalion.
4. Callsign. This is the Callsign for this Battalion. It must match one of the entries in the radio
net for this mission. It cannot be left blank.
5. Record Tgt Prefix. This is to specify the two characters that would be prefixed to recorded
targets when fired from this battalion.
All Batteries that link to any one Fires Battalion object must be of the same doctrine. Any
number of Fires Batteries objects can be added to a Battalion. A scenario may contain any number of
Battalions. There will be a validation to check whether the battalions are duplicated. Battalions
created on VBS3 would appear on VBS3Fires in ‘Edit Battery Aggregation’.
